John McCain will never be President.

As we obsess about the latest Hillary vs Obama atmospherics, economists and traders are fretting about the sharpest downturn in the US economy since the Great Depression:

McCain has embraced Bush economics, while admitting that the economy is not his strong suit.

Whether its Obama with his message of new hope, or Hillary with her stellar grasp of all things economic, McCain will run a very poor second.

Yes, fear often decides an election. The fear of losing your job, house, and health care trumps them all. The economy killed Hoover in 1932, killed Carter in 1980, and will leave McCain stone dead.

The money he proposes to waste by continuing the Iraq war will be the final nail in the coffin.

The real test will be how President Hillary or Obama, backed by a Democratic congress will handle the rough times ahead. All I know is that they will do a far better and fairer job than the Republicans.

1. You are right...
I seriously doubt that the public will buy anything Repubs are selling this election cycle.

2. I live in AZ and people are just not excited about McCain.
And thank God for that!
I have yet to see a single McCain bumpersticker but I have seen Obama for President bumperstickers!

10. My great aunt in AZ says the same thing
But I kind of brushed it off, figuring that most of the people she talks to are Jewish so they are probably Democrats anyway. But maybe she's right...I doubt AZ will be competitive but maybe McCain doesn't have a lock on the whole Southwest. And if we could even embarrass him by making him campaign there, that would be great. I doubt either of our candidates would have to campaign in their home states.

5. Considering the rate at which
Democrats are self-destructing, McCain may be President for 100 years.

9. I really hope you are right. I respect McCain, I don't think he is evil, but we NEED a democrat
as president, and we NEED it NOW! Be it Hillary or Barack! There is no other option for the nation. We have needed a Dem president since 2004. If we don't get one, I fear for the safety of this nation, and our reputation to the rest of the world. I fear for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered rights. I fear we will never be able to ban the death penalty, I fear for more and more and more war in all the WRONG countries, I fear I will never have health insurance, because I was born with several handicaps and cannot get insured because of it unless I am insured through an employeer... I fear so much if we do not get President Barack or Hillary! I think McCain is a nice guy and I have a lot of respect for him (I can't say that about many republicans) but I hope America has enough sense to vote for their own best interest in 2008.
