I believe the 80/20 rule is in play right now. |
|
Generally speaking, in any endeavor, 80% of the effort goes to 20% of the result and vice versa.
A woman at the store saw my Obama button and started talking about the campaigns: I like Obama but it would be nice to have a woman president but of course Mccain is an ex-POW and he'd know how to run the militry....
Clearly, this woman is vaguely aware of the election but has only the foggiest notion of the people and issues involved.
I'd suggest she represents 80% of the electorate and that that 80% will be content with whichever nominee is selected once the 20% who are actively involved finish slugging it out. The question is, can we select a nominee without convincing that 80% that McCain is the best choice?

1. Yep, except for one problem... This 80% of ignorants get to vote... |
|
there should be some sort of test before you are allowed to cast your vote that makes certain you at least understand some of the issues that the candidates stand for.

4. Agreed, we need to unite behind one candidate. Hopefully we get to have both on one ticket. |

6. I disagree. I don't see Obama and Clinton working together through |

a campaign, let alone a four year term. I think Pennsylvania is a test case. For the next few weeks, people ther are going to be forced to pay attention. If Obama manages to close the gap significantly, he could sweep in the fall.
