Take Heart my brethren-- I just had an interesting conversation--
Edited on Tue Apr-27-04 10:33 AM by AZDemDist6
I got a ride in the shuttle from the car dealer just now. the driver was an old guy. He told me he was retired AF and then Lockheed for 20 more years. He was one of the first to hit Korea while in the Army with the 101st he proudly told me. I was thinking "here's a freeper" but screwed up the courage to ask "So what do you think about the Kerry medals thing?"

I was amazed!! He went off on a rant about the repugs slinging dirt and that * was gonna get creamed in Nov. He talks to people all day long shuttling folks home and back, and says most agree * is a (and I quote) a "nasty piece of work"

Remember people, I live in Arizona and this driver shuttles mostly the old "Sun City" retirement crowd (from an Oldsmobile dealership)

Take heart my brethren :)

edit to add background on old guy

1. Thanks for the good news!
When you hear real-life stories like this from people who have public contact all day long, it means something.

I believe the WWII vets have had it with Bush and this whole medals flap. My Dad is a life-long Dem (and WWII vet - Navy)and he says Bush is hanging himself with this issue if his handlers continue to press it.

4. I think your dad is right
I don't see how pounding the fact that Kerry earned medals in Viet Nam can possibly do Bush any good. It may work with his base, but he already has them.

Thanks for the great report from AZ.

3. I have long believed we would take Arizona.
I also doubt that many Repubs there took too kindly to how McCain was treated once they heard the truth after the election.

5. Now all we have to worry about
is the repukes stealing the election again through their goddamn voting machines run by Diebold ("You vote, we decide"), Inc.

6. My husband was a fighter pilot in Korea
Edited on Tue Apr-27-04 10:46 AM by Frances
He really surprised another guy at the senior center by saying how bad Bush is. The man assumed that since Wayne has won medals, he would be for Bush. I am so grateful that my formerly Republican husband has seen through the Bushie's BS.

On edit: By the way, where can I get a Veterans for Kerry bumper sticker? Or better yet, a Navy Fighter Pilots for Kerry sticker?

8. www.johnkerry.com has all of the stickers for various groups.
You can also join individual groups and get involved in the campaign.
