McCain's Short List for VP: Joe Lieberman or Lindsey Graham ?? |
|
...since the three of them are traveling together in Iraq and elsewhere.
IF... Republican logic works this way... ... as VP, Lieberman would pull in some Democrats and Independents....and also has experience and name recognition....OR Lindsey Graham would appeal to the Southern voter along with his experience and military/legal background.
(Don't kill the messenger here...just wondering)

I'm sure the evangelical conservatives would be interested to know.

If so, that would certainly help with the RW religious vote!

Graham's in the closet. And he votes anti-gay --- he voted against the gay marriage amendment.

10. Our esteemed Governor (MN), Timmy "The Tool" Pawlenty |
|
has been living up inside McLame's colon for at least a year, hoping to get picked. He sucks mightily, but if he gets the nod it would at least get his sorry no-taxes-ever-for-anything ass out of Minnesota and maybe we wouldn't have any more collapsing freeway bridges.

21. I noted the same candidate a few days ago. That would be a strong ticket. |
|
U.N. dog-and-pony show notwithstanding, Colin Powell would draw the GOP like flies to honey, unless people viewed it as too heavy of a war ticket.
I read a couple weeks ago an article touting Pawlenty, though. He is apparently a serious contender, but things change swiftly. I think now they'll look for someone with strong economic creds.

He turns 71 next month. McCain is already vulnerable because of his own age. I don't think the Republicans will run a ticket with two men over age 70.

Neither of those guys are it. Graham in particular was another guy at the head of the Immigration debate, making it an unacceptable "Amnesty ticket" for Conservatives.
Hope this is true, a lot of Republicans will stay home, especially if Obama is the Dem.

|
Lieberman, for all his faults, has a solid pro-choice record. Anyone who thinks that the repubs, who already are suspicious of McCain, would stand for one minute the prospect of having a pro-choice politician a hearteat from the presidency (especially with a president as old as McCain) should find some other board to participate on, because they don't know squat about politics.

He supported CT's Catholic hospitals in their bid to refuse rape victims emergency contraception.
I don't think he gives a crap about women's rights, myself. It was useful for a while, that's all.

Lieberman voted against the so-called late term abortion bill; he voted against a flag desecration amendment. He's a jackass and a moral midget when it comes to the war, but I'd be willing to take any bet you want to make that he won't be the vp nominee of the repub party. Not. A. Chance.

In fact, I'm very sure of it for some very good reasons.
But I'll never think of him as pro-choice after his disgusting bid for the conservative Catholic vote here in CT - at the expense of rape victims. Shameful.

32. I don't think Lieberman thinks he'll be VP |
|
I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted a juicy cabinet position, though. He'd hold onto his (very) tenuous connection to the Democratic party and preach to the nation about bipartisanship and consider himself a hero.
That would suit his overblown ego perfectly.
Here's hoping those dreams crash and burn.
