McCain Leads Both Dems In Florida But Obama Is Catching Up

March 16, 2008 3:12 PM

John McCain has a 47 percent to 43 percent lead over Barack Obama in Florida and bests Hillary Clinton 47 percent to 40 percent in a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted March 12. The margin of error is 4.5 percent. In Rasmussen's February survey, McCain had led Obama 53 percent to 37 percent and was ahead of Clinton 49 percent to 43 percent.

A Feb. 21-24 poll by Mason-Dixon had McCain leading Obama by 47 percent to 37 percent and Clinton by 49 percent to 40 percent.

12. I just noticed that
It seems absurd, given that Clinton has been the "champion of the people" in trying to get the Florida delegation seated. Plus the demographics are better for her...this poll is probably an outlier.

20. Not gonna happen
Barring some major sea change. I think Obama is better off agreeing to count half the delegates from Florida, as Ben Nelson proposed.

24. reading further down

"The survey found that 60% of New York voters have a favorable opinion of Illinois Senator Barack Obama. Fifty-nine percent (59%) have a favorable opinion of New York Senator Hillary Clinton and 53% say the same about Arizona Senator John McCain."

Bear in mind this was conducted in the wake of the Spitzer poll; maybe some people associated the two though it's a weak link.

"Thirteen percent (13%) of New York State voters say that the U.S. economy is in good or excellent shape. Thirty-nine percent (39%) say it’s just fair while 47% say poor. The Rasmussen Consumer Index has recently shown consumer confidence falling to the lowest levels of the past seven years. In New York, just 4% say the economy is getting better while 76% say it is getting worse."

Maybe people are wondering where those 200,000 or whatever # of new jobs she promised for upstate NY are. The defense contractors got some but upstate is relatively stagnant.

Won't speculate personally for reasons as I may have a more negative view of Clinton than most given I'm in the only county that went for Obama and Clinton is not well-liked by many here (including my middle-aged liberal Dem female colleagues).

7. California too.
California: Obama Leads McCain by 15, Clinton Leads By 7

Friday, March 14, 2008

Democratic divisiveness may be hurting the party’s general election prospects in states like Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, but not in California. That latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the nation’s most populous state shows Barack Obama leading John McCain 53% to 38%. Hillary Clinton leads McCain 46% to 39%.

17. Yeah...
...I'm sure that the right wing media in the general election is going give Obama the same cooshy treatment that the progressive media has given. Not only that, the RNC isn't going to attack him at all, either.

Sure...

You poll-whore!

Only kidding. I am sure that you would post the same thing on Tuesday. When the junior Senator is down 50-37 natioanlly, will you still feel that he is the one to take on McCain?

25. You miss the point
The OP was meant to suggest how weak the argument that Obama can't win the big states is pretty ludicrous. Hillary does no better.
