When will Kerry begin to use us "Internet Activists and Creatives?
Edited on Tue Apr-27-04 09:22 PM by KoKo01
I'm thinking about all the talent behind Dean and Kuchinch. And all the creatives out there like our own Symbolman/Stranger and others who are "with it" and could do some very creative work for him and give him momentum in the New Internet World. It's all cutting edge ways of communicating and creating. It was still too new for Gore to use, but I think if he had run again he would have used us.

There's so much new talent out there. And new and more cost effective ways of campaigining and producing ads. Dean's Campaign saw it and Kucinich's, too.

I'm worried that he and Theresa may not be as aware of the internet and the power of the budding creatives who are working in it.

I know lots of people over 40 who can't even use e-mail. Believe it or not. And I know many more over 50 who hate it.

OTOH, I know that some folks older than both of these groups are on the internet and comfortable with it. But they aren't in the age group where they are using it for "creative" activities. It's mostly for news ,e-mail and research.

I was kind of hoping that Kerry and his Campaign would reach out to those on the net who are the "New Generation."

His ads are okay, but sort of what would appeal to older Boomers.

Wouldn't it be wise of him to reach out to the Dean and Kucinich supporters, or did Dean's implosion mean that the Democratic Party thought that was the wrong way to go. That they needed to be more sedate and not talk about the net because it would bring back memories of Dean, or was too "out of the mainstream" to deal with right now.

1. According to a poster named Babs something..........
people in the Kerry Campaign visit this message board frequently and mull over our ideas. If this is true, I'd like them to know that playing Mr. Nice Guy will make it easier for them (that is, Rove, * and the murderous cyborg that is cheney) to beat us in November.

Remember, the repugs are people who were brazen and ballsy enough to steal the last presidential election, go on vacation when faced with the threat of a terrorist attack and use lies to justify the full scale invasion of another country.

And don't let me get started on the issue of faith-based services, which is just way of our government gifting religious organizations with our tax dollars.

We are all over the place, not just on DU! Researchers, Writers, Investigators, Creative Artists, videographers, Cartoonists, Bloggers, Short Film Makers, etc. You name it they are all out on the Internet on all kinds of sites.

There's so MUCH ENERGY! Just waiting to explode and make a difference!

3. Kerry is aware of the internet , Clark seems to have more internet support
he has many people on his campaign working there. do you want him to drop them and hire dean and kucinich people or something ? and kerry has already hired some people from the dean campaign along with some from the edwards , clark, gephardt campaigns.

and based on internet voting that was done in michigan, wes clark got the most votes of those who voted on the internet.

5. D-Bunker for one
PeteNYC is/was a volunteer and got more and more involved in the campaign and then created the D-Bunker. There's lots of wallpaper and other downloads at the site that were created by volunteers. Dr. Funk did one last year. I think the campaign is planning some more stuff along these lines. But you kind of have to be a part of the Kerry forum or blog to know what's going on and build the kind of relationships needed to be taken seriously.
