Dean has used the IWR vote as a wedge issue just like Rove wanted to |
|
Rove bragged about using the IWR vote as wedge issue, but if Dean hadn't gone for the bait it wouldn't have been very effective. Blame Dean for all the infighting, we would be far more united against Bush if Dean had't used IWR vote as a wedge issue. Dean supporters need to look in the mirror and decide if they want to keep being pawns in Rove's plan.

2. If Dean had not picked up this issue |
|
You'd have a fractured left with multiple third parties running about.
Supporters of illegal and immoral wars have alienated the base.

13. If Dean is the candidate 3rd parties will have a golden age |
|
This guy Dean won't be able to poll over 40% in the south and much of the midwest, these voters will rightly or wrongly see Dean as unpatriotic. Bush will be so far ahead of Dean that people will vote third party just to heard, especially since the media is claiming Dean the winner in the primary before a single vote is cast. I think Dean pandered this issue just like everything else he does and has no concern about the Democratic party or the nation, he only cares about himself and the next donation, just like those fundie TV preachers.

3. You give Rove too much credit! |
|
IWR is a wedge issue in its own right!
Woe to those that voted for it, for they shall not win the Democratic nomination.

4. Then who would speak up and tell the truth about this immoral war? |
|
Certainly not the creeps who voted for it. The party would be leaking people to the left and we would have lost any moral compass we ever had.

I agree with the LA Times: http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-outlook29dec29,1,3670206.column?coll=la-home-politics"If Dean wins, he could polarize the capital and the country as sharply as Bush."

6. Wedge issue? It's THE issue of 2004 |
|
People are dying. The volunteer army is being decimated. We have gone down a road to ruin.
The Iraqi War Resolution legitimized Bush's actions. There is no ducking this one.
Besides, it isn't Dean's issue. It's OUR issue!

9. I don't care what the hell Rove supposedly said |
|
I'm not going to pretend like the Iraqi War Resolution didn't bother me just because some hateful one man right wing think-tank predicted it would bother me! His prediction doesn't make him smart...a trained monkey could have seen that this would piss off the millions of people who were against the f*cking war! Remember the millions of anti-war protesters??? I do. Does Kerry? Does Gephardt, Lieberman, or Edwards???
If you want to calculate your actions based on what Rove says, or worse yet, you expect others to do the same, then don't be suprised when you lose.
For me, I'll stick basing my opinions on what I think.

10. the iwr is a legitimate issue |
|
elections are about differences. what, should we all rally around lieberman for the sake of unity? too much unity is not a good thing. win or lose the iraq war needs to be debated in public. if the congressional dems had any spine the war would have been debated before the fact.

So then why does Dean lie about it |
|
and say that a vote for IWR was a vote for war?
Dean supported giving Saddam a 60 day deadline and if Saddam didn't comply, Dean supported a UNILATERAL invasion.

12. So you don't think that the war in Iraq is a big issue then? |
|
Congress ABDICATED its RESPONSIBILITY to DECLARE WAR and gave it to someone who was determined to invade Iraq no matter what.
People have died and are going to die over this and you minimize it and call it a "wedge issue".
Amazing.

It was for me. I hate to respond to such an inflamatory thread.
Are you forgetting Kucinich, Mosely-Braun, Sharpton, and Graham who were also vocally oppposed to the war? Seems so...
