Bill Maher on American Politics' 'Good Marketing, Stupid People'
In case you missed it, much of this is straight from his appearance last night on Hardball:

3. Maher telling it like it is. Unfortunately, they already marginalized him
... as the guy who said "the terrorists were brave" (paraphrasing).

These jackasses know what they're doing. They knew way back when, before Maher made that statement, that he was an astute, intelligent, and and bitingly satirical political voice. So they had to paint him as a "fringe" wacko.

It worked to an extent, but here he is on a highly watched news show still being heard. Too bad he's not the HOST of Hardball, though. But Matthews is waking up more and more each day.

...
Oh, and welcome to DU!!

9. Maher should have responded with his well-known line...
"Something's wrong if the only person who has lost their job in this "War of Terror" is me (Mahar)."

4. Great transcript
He cut right to the heart of the problem. I loved it--great marketing, stupid people. Bush* could convince people to drink paint.

Welcome to DU!

5. You skipped the best part: "... and probably WILL!"

Maher has the Repub attack machine nailed:
'Well, gosh, there was a controversy with Bush‘s military history and now there‘s a controversy with John Kerry‘s military history. I don‘t know who to vote for.'

That is EXACTLY what they're going for, hoping that Joe Sixpack won't read past the headlines and see that the "controversy" they raise never passes the sniff test, or at best, is peanuts compared to the comparable Bush controversy.

Hmmnnn. Bush being AWOL from National Guard duty during Viet Nam vs. Kerry waffling a bit on what he did with his own medals (a Bronze Star, a Silver Star, and three Purple Hearts) which he earned IN COMBAT, IN VIET NAM, during duty for which he volunteered.

Well, THAT sounds comparable, don't you think? (/SARCASM OFF)

8. Have you seen the Daily Howler?
http://dailyhowler.com/dh042904.shtml

Covers some of the same topics. He calls it mental illness when the press is so trivia-focused they completely miss the point.

I've often said a lot of our problems could be solved if we just had a good natural predator. It's hard to be a war profiteer when you're worried about a T Rex eating you.

13. Bill Maher was a hoot and all should have his sense of...
ah common sense. LOL I loved it when Tweety asked him about the ribbons and Bill asked him what he was covering it for. It is no issue. Hope we don't have any Repubs owning HBO!!!! Poor Bill.
