Michelle Obama and others seen crying after Barack's Speech
Edited on Tue Mar-18-08 07:28 PM by TeamJordan23
The candidate's wife, Michelle Obama, sat in the front row during the speech. She was very emotional and could be seen crying backstage after the speech was over, given the subject matter of her husband's oratory.

61. Oh, I see
So if Hillary made me cry by her mere presence, how should that be perceived? Like I said in another thread, was he trying out for preacher or president?

80. To you I say.......
Hillary's mere presence makes me cry.......if it makes you feel better. (not for the same reason)

But what I really wanted to do was to use your comment to piggy back a reply at the top of the thread so I could post these pictures.
See... now your worthless post has meaning and not just "mean". Your welcome!

20. He's too good for us
He believes we are more, than we are. He believes in us. He believes we can hold two thoughts in balance at one time. He believes we can understand complex concepts; can grasp nuance; can forgive.

I believe he is too good for us..and that includes many on DU.

25. I teared up at work. Anyone who has a heart and cares for his/her fellow man/woman cannot help but
be moved. The safe thing to have done would have been to throw Wright under the bus. But he didn't. He showed that, as an imperfect person himself, he loved another imperfect person. And what he said is that all of us, with all of our imperfections, working together, are the best thing about this country.

It was a message that was rooted more in love and empathy than in politics. That's what makes it so special and so moving. Obama's gifted with words. He could have crafted something that hit the "feel good" notes and scored political points. But he didn't. He wanted to talk with Americans, to open the dialogue and let us continue the discussion.

I missed the live telecast, but couldn't wait to read the text when I got back to the office. Once I found it, I shared the speech with my coworker. As we were reading it, we would turn to each other every few minutes to share what we were feeling.

And then we watched it on youtube. (Sigh).
