Compare Obama's speech today to Clinton's shrill and crude "Choirs Will Sing" |
|
Edited on Tue Mar-18-08 09:15 PM by NormaR
She is out-classed. She did not demonstrate that she has the ability to address the issues in a sophisticated, solutions-oriented, non-inflammatory way.

11. She will go down in History... |
|
As the candidate that tried to destroy hope. She will go down as the anti-democratic-democrat.
She will be looked at in the same light as Jonh McCain and George Bush.
She had so much to gain, and the opportunity to be a hero of the party, and in the end she will just be another also-ran goat.

12. Well, as she's said; 'When a candidate, you speak poetry, when in office, |
|
you speak prose.'
She's not entirely out-classed here, she just doesn't have the poetry.

4. She gave an antiwar - Troops Home - speech today. |
|
You want to compare a stump appearance with a prepared speech. Hardly sporting. But why start now, eh?
Let's compare, then, Clinton's troops speech today with Obama's "You will have an epiphany and vote for me" comments, for all of fairness that entails.
But then, your post was just an all too typical hit-n-run. It wasn't posted to say anything except that you like Obama, and dislike Clinton.
Ok, fine...we know. Wheee!

20. Her speech yesterday was. Not the other one mentioned, though. |
|
The one referred to upthread was a "stump speech." Like Obama's "epiphany" comments. Those are loosely prepared, formulaic, informal efforts. A few notes on a three-by-five card, for some, memorized, for others, sometimes, even put up on a teleprompter, for those who can't keep the outline in their head...but they aren't serious commentaries, where every word is carefully chosen for its maximum effect.
Not serious policy statements, like Obama's "race" effort or Clinton's "troops" one.
The fact that anyone would WANT to contrast the two says something that suggests that the comparer has no desire to discuss the actual issues, but wants to "score" with an unfair comparison. The old "MY candidate is BETTER than YOUR candidate."
It's not too instructive or useful, that sort of thing. It's not too mature, either.
It's rather like comparing a pickup basketball game to the final four. Yes, it's all basketball, but one effort is more formal and is of greater consequence than the other.

She's gonna have to realize that the game has changed first.

18. I believe it served its purpose. She poked fun at obama and I |
|
laughed by ass off.....if one will recall it was the monday before the election in NH and obama at a rally said, "tomorrow when you are in that booth, and before you vote, a light will shine down from the heavens and you will hear a voice telling you to vote for obama, and then you will have an epiphany and vote for me......HRC poked fun at the messianic message obama was trying to insert into this campaign.

26. I don't think Hillary is capable of giving a speech such as this. |
|
She doesn't seem to have the vision. Obama is a man with big dreams and aspirations. Hillary is his mother telling him to remember to wear his jacket - very safe, unimaginative, works by rote. A smart woman, to be sure, but appears motivated by power more than anything else.

27. Actually, I think she could. But she squelches her "better demons" and listens to her lesser ones. |
|
She could'a been a contender, but she let political ambition, opportunism, and really really bad political advice get in her way.
