huge reception to Obama's speech
As I'm writing this:

The full speech had been viewed at least 875,354 times on Youtube.

Of 170,003 people voting at msnbc.com on the question "Do you think Sen. Barack Obama successfully tackled the issue of race in his speech?", 69% answered "Yes. He answered the tough questions and wasn't afraid to be honest."

Looking at news sites, the speech is the:

2. This may be the best news of all.
More people will read his words and see him speak. And they will see a leader. Thanks.

He isn't the teflon president, he will be the precious silver president. (okay that's kinda geeky)
But the more you try to tarnish him, the brighter he shines!

3. Newshour gave it the last half hour of their show tonight.
They rarely do that for anything.

4. I saw that.
I thought the quality of discussion on NewsHour was terrible. One commentator even brought up the old, discredited meme that "Obama gives a great speech but we know nothing about his policies!"

Um, ok. What rock have you been living under? :eyes:

10. It was sad.
But, it does show that the speech was big news, if nothing else. :)

11. Yeah, plus
I think, most likely, people watching NewsHour already have their minds made up one way or the other.

13. It's about the only news I can watch.
And the only news I really want to watch. Well ok, the BBC does some good stuff. One of the many joys of no cable is the PBS offerings are so much more intelligent, even if it's something I don't agree with.

6. His HONESTY. That's important. What isn't important

are claims that he has poor judgment :eyes: .. Obama honestly cares about this man. He didn't lie about their association. As, I might add, the Clintons have done in the case of Paul, to name one.

He TACKLED it. It wasn't as if he just thought we all needed a good speech about the issue. He was confronted with a situation and took kind, measured action. As, I might add, could be said of a great statesman.

I'm GLAD voters are catching on to this. It isn't a waste of time if they do. I didn't get the feeling he was anxious to make the speech. He said his black advisers were positively excited and his white advisers were nervous. That microcosm of the greater macrocosm of American society NEEDED to hear what he has to say. People who scoff at the speech only display their level of cynicism. Obama HAD to take time out from our regularly scheduled campaign to address the situation. He didn't CHOOSE it. He wasn't looking forward to it. BUT HE DID IT FOR THE GREATER GOOD OF ALL. People who mock that kind of courage just don't get it and are not worth wasting a keystroke.

No more. I'm not in their pig pen any more. They can take their leader and go to the courts just like Hillary wants. Let them stall the legal process for as long as they can. Everyone sees up their bloomers by now. I walk away. I'm tired of looking up their butt hoes. :hi:
