Why didnt Obama give this speech to Wright 5 years ago? |
|
Instead he has him baptize his kids, gave him over $20,000 in donations, and appointed him to his campaign.
Obama's words were nothing more than words to save his campaign.

49. Obama did confront Wright privately... |
|
Edited on Wed Mar-19-08 11:21 PM by backscatter712
Sorry, he didn't get that on tape, but after some of Wright's more divisive and hurtful sermons, Obama did speak with him afterwards and discussed his disagreements with him.
Why are Obama's actions bad again?

29. Well, I saw the speech and agree with the post. |
|
Standing up for what you believe to the people whom you like and love is difficult but necessary sometimes. The change that Obama touts must come from within. And he failed that test. BTW, I know the pundits say that anyone who does not love Obama's speech must surely be uneducated, but I am not. I get so sick of hearing that.

28. Yes, Obama like Hillary thought this campaign would be over |
|
by Feb 5th. If it had been, we would never have seen where Obama is coming from. Where his lifelong philosophical leanings lie in the deep, simmering resentment roiling in himself and his wife. Rev Wright speaks for Obama. He says the things Obama has keep sequestered from the public view all his life. Obama is an angry man who has waited a very long time to find a position of power to advance the AA community. I don't think Obama is representative of every AA not the ones who remember the racial violence we lived through. Not when this country has come so far due to the work of Civil Rights leaders who because of their love for the country, not just an ethnicity, in their wisdom sought peaceful resolution and advancement through the laws enacted by the Civil Rights movement.. Obama's agenda is setting a dangerous precedent threatening to undo all that those who have come before him have given their lives to create. To put it bluntly, Obama and Rev Wright are an insult to MLKjr, RFK, JFK and what they gave their lives for in the Civil Rights movement.

Do the math. If Obama had won the nomination in Feb, we wouldn't be having this conversation. Would we? I am glad that Senator Clinton didn't give up on herself and US. She's fought her way back under the most debilitating circumstances and will eventually be the Democratic nominee who will beat the Republicans for the first time since her husband won the White House. Thank You, Hillary! http://www.taylormarsh.com/images2/hillaryclinton_wideweb__470x308,02.jpg

But he's running on fumes with his campaign strategy and got caught embracing a racist minister for the last 20 yrs.
Thank God, he wasn't awarded the nomination already. We'd be in deep sh*it right now against McCain and probably lose the election because of it!

There is no one on this earth that would have predicted that he would have won it all by Feb. 5. This is called projection, it was Hillary who said this.
It's not surprising that you think his minister is racist.
You may still lose the election with Hillary. If this board is an indication of the party many of you are too wimpy to know how to fight. You spend your time eating your own and whining and have no clue how to fight.

38. Why didn't say anything to Bill about Monica? Why didn't she disown and distance herself from him? |
|
Edited on Wed Mar-19-08 08:23 AM by EffieBlack
Oh, wait a minute. Maybe she DID say something to him, but it's none of our business what she has said to him in private. And maybe she decided that the good in him and in their relationship outweighed the bad and she wasn't going to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Or is it that people have all kinds of reasons for making the personal choices they make and the fact that they don't kick people they know and love to the curb (including their husbands, who, unlike grandmothers and sisters, they DID choose) just because they do or say something wrong, even if it's REALLY, REALLY wrong.
I love the Clintons, I love Bill Clinton and defended him furiously during the impeachment mess. And I was and will continue to be the first to take issue with anyone who criticizes Hillary's handling of this matter, since none of have any right to judge the personal choices she has made. But I daresay that Clinton's tawdry affair with Monica and his subsequent efforts to cover it up did far more damage to this country than anything that Jeremiah Wright may have said.
It's obvious that there is NOTHING that Obama could do to satisfy you. If he had literally spat in Wright's face on national television and shouted "You are DEAD to me now, Old Man!" you STILL would have insisted that this wasn't enough.
Unless you're going to insist that everyone in this country - which would include you - must face down and then walk away from everyone we care about, regardless of our personal histories with them, because they may have done something wrong, you all need to get past this "Obama didn't go far enough to disown Wright" hypocritical crap.
