Dick Morris on Obama
This is an interesting analysis, even if it comes from a toad like Dick Morris:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/03/wrights_rantings_wont_sink_oba.html

Will the Gospel According to Jeremiah Wright sink the Obama candidacy? Not very likely.

Let's start with two basic facts:

(a) Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) has already won the Democratic nomination. It's over. Regardless of how the remaining primaries and caucuses go, including Michigan and even Florida, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) can never catch Obama in elected delegates. His current lead of 170 pledged delegates will not be overcome no matter what happens. Even if Clinton beats him by 10 points in each of these primaries, he will still lead among elected delegates by over 100. The superdelegates will not override the will of the voters unless Obama is in jail. They will not let themselves in for a civil war by overruling a black man who is beloved by the young by going over the heads of the electorate and naming the candidate that lost the primaries as the nominee. Regardless of how damaged Obama may be by the Wright tapes, it will not provide sufficient cover or cause for them to do so.

(b) Wright's rantings are not reflective of Obama's views on anything. Why did he stay in the church? Because he's a black Chicago politician who comes from a mixed marriage and went to Columbia and Harvard. Suspected of not being black enough or sufficiently tied to the minority community, he needed the networking opportunities Wright afforded him in his church to get elected. If he had not risen to the top of Chicago black politics, we would never have heard of him. But obviously, he can't say that. So what should he say?

1. Morris Is A Very Cynical Man
Morris believes that Obama chose his church to further his political career and to cement his African American bona fides... What a cynical, cynical man Morris is...

Choosing a church, synagogue, or mosque or not choosing one at all is one of the most personal and revealing acts a person can make...

And then Morris suggest Americans wouldn't hold it against him if that turned out to be the case...

Morris a deeply, deeply jaded man...

Which Obama grew up as the majority of his life, so Dick may be right.

14. I see an atheist
I believe Obama is an atheist. It's just a damn shame that in this country you have to pretend to love Jesus to get anywhere politically.

2. Dick Morris thinks Obama eats Wheaties for breakfast
because he has made a cool, calculated decision that he can't appear to not take his health seriously by eating a sugar-coated cereal. Likewise, he can't appear to be too health conscious by eating something along the lines of a Grape Nuts or multi-grain cereal, because of how it might make him appear "uppity".

I don't know how Dick Morris gets out the door with all his ideas about how everything is a calculated moment in someone's big plan. Maybe he went to church there, Dick, because he actually LIKED it.

5. He Reminds Me Of A Croupier Or Hooker Booker
Didn't George Stephanopolus write in his memoirs that Morris reminds him of the guy in a gangster movie who ends up getting a cap in his ear...

9. I hate these pundits that make these claims without any facts.
It isn't hard to figure out that Obama belonged to the church prior to his Political career. I think he has it totally upside down. My understanding is that his community service led him to this church which, in turn, led him to politics.

11. It's A Right Wing Meme
The argument is that Obama joined that church to ingratiate himself to the African American community...
