You want your opponent to have to struggle up the hill to attack you. As in "it's an uphill battle."

9. Sounds like John Buford at Gettysburg.
He survived that battle. (He did die of typhoid later that year, and I do hope Obama isn't comparable in THAT sense as well...)

Frankly, as a Dem I am happy to be gathering around a banner of racial harmony and fairness. Sounds a lot like what our party used to say we were all about.
