I have been trying to come up with a post for the last hour or two
that would best express how I feel about DU and the world at this moment. As I see it, The Democratic party has a choice between a born leader who can inspire people and a politician whose main claim to being the "inevitable candidate" is having slept in the White House for eight years. I shudder to think that a batshit crazy old man could be our next President because the Democratic party cannot get its shit together.

That's the way I feel. So flame away.

5. At least half of the supporters will stick with the party......

Which when you do the math of the new turnout levels will be a devastating majority against the Republican regime.

14. Thos turnout levels will not hold up if Hillary wins the nomination.......
the fact is that Obama has grown the party with young voters. If Obama does not win, they will not show up during the GE.

Nothing demoralizes a person, especially a younger one, than doing a lot of hard work and not seeing the payoff in the end.

20. Re: your last sentence. Try working your ass off since 1964
only to find that the country you live in has gone batshit crazy at the start of the decade you hope to retire during. (Terrible sentence, but I am too lazy to rewrite it.)

23. I understand what your saying......
and I am sure I will find myself in the same boat soon enough. My point was more about the youth of America and how, in a high pressure society, they easily become demoralized.

4. "batshit crazy old man" indeed who is probably in ailing health and I heard on Thom
Hartmann that Liebermann had to correct him on the bogus statements he was making about insurgents being trained in Iran today.

Her entitlement and campaign has been appallingly divisive and completely annoying.

McCain is in no way a maverick. There is nothing even remotely new about war mongers.

19. Morning Ho shouts that this is NOTHING ! McCain had been up for "48 hrs" and was tired. Mmm, I
wonder what will happen when Gramps has to work 20 hour days and has to stay up for, god forbid, a "national emergency" or international crisis.

6. I think DU is m uch more for Obama than for Clinton
It's the outer world that is problematic.

Whenyou have a superdelegate like Rendell (governor of PA) who announces that he cannot in good conscience support a "cheerleader" just because the unwashed masses are supporting that cheerleader, you realize how screwy the world of politics is.

8. Leaders are made, not born
At least that's how I see it. If Obama makes it to the GE, I will vote for him, of course. But I am sorry to say that he just doesn't inspire me in the least. I just don't respond to him. I see that it's so with others. But I can't warm up to the guy. There's a distance, an aloofness about him. I don't understand his appeal, though I recognize that it's there, believe me, I do.

16. "Born Leader" is somewhat of a figure of speech, but all people
do not exit the birth canal with the same shot at becoming the editor of the Harvard Law Review.

His "aloofness" is why I think he was able to do such a great job of tackling the race issue, which he did without anger or recrimination.

I only know one person who met him, very briefly, in person and she did not find him at all aloof.

10. Just curious: did Obama ever say a word about the election fraud of 2000 and 2004?
That would have been the optimum time for inspiration, especially since African-Americans and the poor were significantly disenfranchised during those elections.

I don't seem to recall reading anything about Obama being outraged by the chicanery of those critical elections. He could have shown himself to be a real leader at that time, maybe given Kerry a clue as to how to address Constitutional violations.

11. Not yet..BUT.. I could see him asking for sweeping changes
early on in his adminsitration..along with the restoration of the civil rights commission..

I could envision a total scrapping of all electronic voting/counting devices..and a move to a standardized ballot countrywide (for the presidential/senatorial/house races)

Wanna know how I know? It took me two weeks, but I figured it out.

Remember the born leader who can inspire people. He'll be remembered as the bright spot at a very dismal time in the early 21st Century.

13. I'm an Obama supporter, but I think you are unfairly denigrating of Clinton and McCain
Hillary did more than just sleep in the White House (now she doesn't seem to have the experience she claimed, but it is more than sleeping).

McCain, I profoundly disagree with on many issues, but it is unfair to call him "bat-shit crazy", imho.
