There's a story that goes several years ago, some political or perhaps it was journalistic analysts were interested, perhaps amused, about the failures of political columnists to understand politics.
They devised a test that simplified current political events into simple, yes or no questions. Will the war in Iraq be popular? Yes or no. Will Joe Biden win the Republican nomination? Yes or no. Etc.
This test actually predates those events, I'm just inventing examples here.
So they tested prominent conservative columnists, based on their columns, on these questions. George Will, Safire, rubes like that.
As a control, they had a chimpanzee take the same test. They'd ask the chimp the same questions, and it could give yes or no response. Essentially, a humorous randomizer.
So as you might expect, George Will et. al. were less astute about politics than the baby chimp.
What's my point? I'm thinking of all the people here who are absolutely sure Obama's campaign is over.
It's fun to watch people make monkeys out of themselves.
