John McCain has only defeated lightweight Democrats in his career
In professional wrestling there are what are called "jobbers". A jobber is some bum who is brought out to get his ass kicked by the star wrestlers. Well, John McCain has only faced jobbers in all of his House and Senate campaigns. These people (listed below) never had a serious chance to beat McCain, and the Democratic Party never backed them with any support. While Barack Obama is often criticized for not having faced a tough opponent before, the same could be said for McCain. He's never faced a Democrat who had the full backing of the party, someone with money and an effective message. That's why this primary campaign is good for Obama. It toughens him up for the fall, gets all the dirty laundry out and forces him to sharpen his responses to criticisms.

But John McCain is not the battle hardened veteran that he is made out to be. He has never faced a real Democrat. Only jobbers.
