I'm donning my flame suit for this one, but, seriously, does anyone really want Bill back in the WH? |

I liked the guy when he was Prez, but, shit, HRC's schedule dump shows how many times she was actually in the WH the same time he was getting blown by Lewinsky over the course of a couple of years. Holy Mackerel. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080319/ap_on_el_pr/first_lady_lewinsky_list_2:dem:

LMBO......
I am totally liberal to the point of probably being a Socialist and I am an atheist and I believe that it is necessary in a committed relationship to be faithful.
So when did being faithful to one's life partner become an RW talking point? So...in order to again be a Dem and be considered liberal, I need to start cheating on my mate? Bummer...I am not seeing anyone at this time ~~ so I guess I have to get on one of those Senior Citizen romantic match sites and find someone to cheat on...or I am living an RW talking point! Welp, I guess I better get off here and start trolling for some guy who is at least breathing...at my age, that is about the only consideration any more!
BTW: You thinking process is fucked up to the max!

That reminded me of all the things I didn't much care for then. I don't think he's changed. He's still brilliant but terribly flawed. And I don't think he'd be able to keep his hands out - the only question is how tough she'd be willing to be post election about keeping him out of the driver's seat.
No, I'd rather remember the good old days with a little mist around them, you know? I don't really want to relive them now. Now is a very different time than then.

I like him too, but I really think his presence has overwhelmed her. People come out to see him whether she is there or not. Then you realize that if she is elected, we are absolutely going to get both of them- because if she keeps counting her years in the WH as experience, then there is no way in hell he is going to be picking out china and drapes if he gets back in there. So his presence has made the campaign about the past and not the future. I like him, but I don't want him to be in the WH again.

Don't take out on Bill because his wife is running that is stupid. he stoped a recession in his first months , he inherited 17 trillion dollars of debt from the Bush and yes Reagan, he almost broke us with the cold war, as Bush Jr. is doing with a real war, So again yes, if it keeps a republican out... Bill Clintons health is bad, the republican party mostly the Bush,s almost killed Clinton, they stayed on him from the first day until the last day he was in office, partly because they knew Hillary was preparing to run and they wanted to stop the Clintons...

|
This is the issue in this election. Do we want to revert to the past and GAMBLE BIGTIME on the POLARIZING Clintons whose nomination would cause the R's to dance in the streets, or do we want a NEW leader with a new vision and new kind of politics? This is a no-brainer. If we go with Clinton redux, the R's will laugh all the way to the November voting booth, and we may well have just committed political suicide AGAIN.

60. You will be surprised to learn that many men have voted for Clinton |
|
in primaries because they want Bill back in the White House.
When will DUers realize that Clinton was the first Democratic president to be re-elected since FDR?
That he left office with the highest approval rating of any president before him (and, no doubt, the one that followed him)?
That he took a major deficit, larger than all previous years combined and replaced it with a surplus?
That even with a Republican Congress under a petty directions from Newt, the 90s were an economic expansion that helped people at all income level?
I understand Republicans hanging on the Monica affair as the only marker of his presidency, but Democrats?
JFK is very much admired on these pages. After all, the Obama supporters compare them. Yet, JFK's affairs, yes, in the White House, were notorious, and dangerous, "sharing" a mistress with a mob boss.

63. Bill Clinton, the only dem 2 term prez since Truman.. |
|
Yeah! I Want Him Back! Especially his economy! He can bring the bimbos with him too! Bush has no bimbos, well ok...maybe jeff gannon. But he doesn't have anything to brag about, he's turned everything to shit and I am so tired of holding my breath everytime he opens his dumb mouth and makes an ass of himself. Clinton, intelligent, charismatic, accomplished, 23 million new jobs, surpluses, cheap gas, cheap student loans. A president that was loved everywhere he went in the world, the only democrat to be a 2 term president since Truman....that's a very long time ago (1945-1953) Think about it.. no Democrat has been able to do that SINCE. He survived the republican assault and left with higher approval ratings than Reagan. Bet Nixon and his VP would have loved to say that...they were out the door and down the street by popular demand.
On a personal note, I really don't believe either Clinton or Gore would have ignored Richard Clarke warnings. He was appointed in their administration and completely ignored by bush and his incompetent crew. I remember the "Wag the Dog" republicans when Clinton wanted to go after bin laden. Hope the bastards are ridden with guilt now.
As for his infidelities.....I live in NY State, we lived through Rudy and no one really gave a damn who he slept with. We just lost Spitzer and while we were all excited about having the 1st Blind, Black governor...turns out both he and his wife have been sleeping around..and so it goes. Hopefully it doesnt go too far...since we no longer have a Lt Governor, next in line is the senate majority leader...a republican. This after years of Pataki. So I'm hoping people in NY will look past his affairs, give him and his wife credited for going thru a rough patch and keeping their marriage together. We have a budget crisis here and thats more important than anyones sex life.

68. I have thought about this one...and No |
|
Not that I don't respect Bill, but the times are different. Sometimes experience is a detriment, as far as providing a dated and fixed frame of reference that is no longer flexible or even useful.
I think the economy is the biggest issue, and the biggest economic issue is our military position. Obama has the best possibility of handling it. I think both Hillary and Bill would favor the 80's status quo positioning that they see as normal - essentially an "empire". It is no longer the case, and a new paradigm is essential.

Some have "open" marriages. They had a "closed" marriage as in she didn't care and still doesn't. When you look back at that infamous 60 Minutes interview, she made it perfectly clear that what Bill did was Bill's business. She didn't care. So why should anyone else?
His presidency wasn't so hot. Looking closely, it merely continued the Bush presidency in many ways which probably explains all those photos of the two of them together. Always smiling. Bill Clinton just kept the seat warm for the Bush to follow so to speak. And now Hillary Clinton wants to keep the seat warm. And why not? As Bill Clinton found out, being a seat warmer pays extremely well. So far, at least by estimates, it's paid at least $50 million. Not a bad deal considering they were in debt eight years ago. So in another eight years, they may double their money. It's all about the money, honey, with those two.

His baggage is Hillary's baggage (not that she doesn't enough already). And the way he's been acting during this whole election makes me wonder about his mental health.

We cannot trust him. He crapped all over us with the Lewinski thing. And that was while he was freaking president!
God knows what he'll do now to embarrass us, all while working toward centrist instead of progressive causes.
