BREAKING in this post: New poll numbers, Obama surprise TV appearance, AC 360 statements and more
Edited on Wed Mar-19-08 09:39 PM by Tropics_Dude83
Obama suffered a little from Wright but he still leads Clinton and Mccain nationally per CBS.

Here are all the details:

Obama/46-%-Clinton 43%

More on the CBS News PollHead-to-head matchups:

Obama 48, McCain 43 (In February Obama led McCain 50 to 38)

Clinton 46, McCain 44.

Among independents:

Obama trails McCain by 8 points, Clinton trails McCain by 11 points.

Favorability rating:

Obama 44, Clinton 39, McCain 38.

Unfavorability rating:

Clinton 41, McCain 31, Obama 28.

On superdelegates:

–If Obama wins more elected delegates but Clinton becomes the nominee because of supers 36% of Obama supporters would be angry, 56% would be disappointed, 8% would be satisfied.

–If Clinton wins more total votes but Obama takes the nomination because of superdelegates, 22% of Clinton supporters would be angry and 51% would be disappointed.

–46% of Dems say supers should support whichever candidate wins the most votes in primaries and caucuses. 30% say they should support the candidate with the best chance to win in November, 21% say they should back whomever they like.

Development #2: Obama goes on the View with the 4 ladies on March 28.

Development #3: Obama tells AC 360 that the Wright controversy has shaken him up and that he understands his chances of being elected are worse than other more conventional candidates.

14. You're right...
likability is an extremely important factor when people go to the polls in November.

And Obama is a very likable guy, especially compared to Grandpa Munster.

11. Give Obama another week and this Wright thing will be gone
for the most part. And it will be lumped with Clintons NAFTA-gate and McCains Iraq war he is tied to.

So back to square one next week. Then big brain Obama will show again why he is leading this race.

12. Wow. Obama led McCain 50-38 in the last CBS poll; Clinton moved from tie to 2 point lead
Edited on Wed Mar-19-08 09:57 PM by jackson_dem
Although two points is still a statistical dead heat. So Clinton moved up 2, Obama took a 7 point hit in less than a month (if it were just McCain going up both would have went down. This poll is yet another that shows Obama falling). This is more proof of his declining electability. Thanks for posting. ;)

23. Walter....
You have no idea how hard these last few days have been on me. I was worried that a candidate I strongly backed was going to go up in smoke. It was devastating. Plus, I had concerns about who exactly Jeremiah Wright was pre-speech. After "a more perfect union", I feel like I have had a remarkable insight to his and Michelle's soul and I love what I see.

20. Obama will recover
This was Obama's most serious challenge yet and I think he has dealt with it successfully. His speech is receiving rave reviews and it's had a huge impact online, more than 1.6 million views on youtube alone. The polls are mixed, several polls have him down right now but I think he can bounce back. By the time Pennsylvania comes around, I think Obama will have mostly recovered.
