2. I didn't get a ticket, but I might try to go anyway. I might run into some friends who can get me in |

And if not, even the over flow is bound to be fun.
Montana has a very laid back kind of populous politics. You can often run into anybody from the governor to a US Senator or folks from the legi at various times and places or events.
I imagine the people outside will get to see the candidates as well.
It will be a major circus/event for Butte and for the Dems. It's neat they are meeting in Butte. It was the richest city in the country for a short time. Copper left behind the largest superfund site in the country in the form of the Berkley Pit, Anaconda Copper's toxic growing lake in one humongously big mining pit.
And Butte has a lot of old brick buildings from the mining boom. Whole areas of town are old brick.
Butte is struggling economically. Since the copper boom ended and with the environmental legacy in the area, people are struggling. Butte is losing population.
Butte is historically a Democratic town. Since the unions helped rescue the state from the Copper and Timber barons, Butte has been a Democratic Town. Lots of Irish miner's descendants.

3. Good luck. Thanks for that snippet of local history also |
|
It's a nice thing about boards like this. There's a lot we can learn from each other about places we've never been.
