Just what is Obama accused of doing??
I heard Joe Scarborough continue the character assassination on Barack Obama this morning. He said those “left-wing Manhattan liberals” were putting words into the mouths of black Americans. What ??
In the same breath, he seemed to be accusing Obama of being responsible for the words of Rev Wright. In effect, he was accusing Obama of overt racism. Then he said, Obama should have gotten up and walked out of the church. Since Obama didn’t walk out, is Scarborough accusing him of “bad judgement”? Is it simple “guilt by association”? Just what are they accusing Obama of? Racism or lack of judgement or both?
Can the opponents of Barack Obama explain this more fully? What is Obama guilty of? What is his major offense? Do you think he is a racist? Or do you think his judgement is irreparably damaged?
If you are questioning his judgement, is his decision to stay in the church a worse judgement than voting to invade Iraq? If so, why? What is the major accusation against Obama? Please clarify the attacks by people such as Joe Scarborough, Pat Buchanan, Sean Hannity, and Rush Limbaugh, all paragons of virtue? What are they accusing Obama of doing?
Is Obama responsible for the words of his pastor? Should he have gotten up and walked out? Does this show that he is a racist just like Rev Wright? Does this show that he has very poor judgement? Before I join the likes of Limbaugh and Hannity and the above characters in accusing Obama of racism or whatever, I want to know exactly what he is accused of doing. Please help me out here. I need to know this before I switch my support to Hillary.
I look forward to your explanations.

1. Curious to see what answers you get |

or what spun crap gets thrown.
I fail to see how any fair minded, thinking person can figure Obama is guilty of anything in this manufactured issue.

I listened to Scarborough this morning and I actually thought what he said was more favorable to Obama than a lot of the things that have been said. But I completely agree with you that this whole firestorm is a character assassination. Obama has done NOTHING WRONG and I'm amazed that even some Democrats can't see this for what it is: a right wing smear attack that is designed to scare away white voters by making Obama look like the angry black man.

I will be interested to see the explanations, as the same talking points are used here by a few posters.

7. One Word Bothers Me Here |
|
Publicly, It is a fact that Obama and Write had a conversation where he says he may need to "publicly" distance himself. This tells me several things with out the words ever being spoken. Kind of like a wink wink situation. It could be as simple as hate sells and people are buying, business is good. Obama clearly contradicted himself in his speech. He had heard I am sure many of the Pastors vile sermons. There is nothing Christian about his sermons. CHrist never spoke out about the White State of Rome even as they condemned him. He was more concerned about the bastardization of the religion. And then what did he do? Forgave them. I am an agnostic but before I saw the light I was an evangelical and know Christs' teachings inside and out.
And on another front. When it comes to race, racial equality will remain a generational issue and will take time for full fruition to be reached. I see Write and those like him using this to further their own evil causes. And As ALWAYS follow the money and you will find the answers. He is widening the divide not closing it. And if you want to be the catalyst for change in this area you may want to have less of derisive background.
Obama had a choice and his staying in this particular church and donating heavy shows his endorsement of the churches doctrine and that of Write. They had and have a close personal relationship. Also I do believe you can judge a person by the company they keep and only a blind person can not see a pattern. I could go own but I am a painfully slow typist and have some work to do.

8. You mean like Joe did when the intern died in his office? |
|
He's a fine one to talk. A dead blond intern turns in his office and he's never held accountable in any way. Instead, a la Bushco, he gets elevated to a more prominent platform.
Morning Joe. I'll pass.
PS to the original question: you always have a choice of listening or leaving when you hear something you disagree with. Doesn't mean you should always leave. Otherwise you'll never get the opportunity to listen to something you don't agree with.

9. This Clinton supporter took a "vow of silence" on the Wright church |
|
matter sometime last week. This post is an exception, to say that IMO both racism and guilt by association are being used BY SOME ONLY. My fundamental sense is that dragging freedom of religious expression into some damn campaign is a slippery slope.

...as my answer was going to be simply that his "crime" was "Campaigning - and WINNING - while black."

I just think he is an novice because he didn't see this coming and try to head it off earlier. This is politics by the way and as much as you want to play smoochie nice with the RW, they ALWAYS chose not to play that way.
