1. Well, Obama needs to spread the mountaintop removal thing to WV
and Clinton's lead will evaporate to nothing.

34. Obama will not. He has beaten-wife syndrome like all other Democrats. He's afraid MSM will retaliate
He doesn't realize he has nothing to lose by taking a principled, populist
stand against big business. He refuses to draw a distinction with Hillary.

What else is there to talk about in WV, other than xenophobia / race?

West Virginians are anti-big business populists. Obama is marginally
to the left of Clinton. He only hates mountaintop removal because it
is the liberal position to take -- not because his heart is in fighting
the big business rape of the country.

This weak-mindedness and unwilling to make "fiery denunciations"
for fear of media reprisal of the "crazy angry black man" is what
caused Kerry to lose. Battered syndrome.

7. Maybe the people of WV don't understand that they are in one of those states that don't matter.
I mean, seriously. Only states like New York and California count, right?

Not worried... yet.

4. In part the unfortunate covert racism of America
and the Rev Wright fiasco. Maybe America is not ready for someone as intelligent as Obama. What if national polls say Obama is on a constant downswing in national polls to McCain. Do with stick with Obama when we know Rev. Wright has already swiftboated poor Obama. ? Do we stick with Obama because he was an only on winner among Democrats only.

5. The Polls in Ohio and Pennsylvania...
The polls in OH and PA show Obama getting crushed in both states by McCain, but the far-left doesn't care. They think they can shift the Democratic Party to the far left fringes and still win moderates and the vast majority of normal Democrats who don't attend KOS conventions. You would think they would have learned something after the Nader and Ned Lamont fiascos.

12. Polls a few weeks ago showed Obama doing better against McCain. These things fluctuate
And mean nothing at this stage. Obama's had a tough week...let's see if he can recover before declaring him unelectable because of a few bad polls.

19. The trend for Obama is consistently declining relative to Clinton in trial heats with rethugs
He once did 9-10 points better than her in the beginning of the campaign, that is early in 2007. As he gets more scrutiny, bad press, criticism, and vetting he is consistently sliding back--which is typical for a "new" candidate.

18. You get eight years of doing whatever you can to push them to the left.
Which is what you're supposed to do anyway.

Being a progressive is subscribing to a life of competing with corporate interests and Republican appeasement folks (centrists). Write, call, wash, repeat.

21. Ah, Obama loses it must be because of racism!
:sarcasm:

It is ironic Obamites--further exacerbating Obama's problem by using the race card yet again--blame Obama for his apparently collapsing support among whites and Latinos (and even his formerly rock solid 85-90% black support is slipping.). When Rendell said this they crucified him. Will they apologize to Rendell?

The only problem is that there's a difference between what we can say on a message board and what a public figure like him can say.

31. I agree but to call what he said racist was over the top and an unfair attack on a good man
Rendell knows firsthand how much bigotry still exists. He is Jewish and one of his campaign offices had to be shut down because of threats from neo-Nazis. He was telling it like it is.

I think his best shots are Montana, SD, Indiana, NC, and Oregon in the coming weeks. I fully expect Hill will win PA, WVA and KY.

25. WV is 95% white. It's also heavily occupied and influenced by right-wing corporations.
WV is probably not going to go Democratic in the fall. For the time being, it is lost to the extreme right-wing corporate influence. The Democrats will get it back, but probably not this year.

Was there a point to your post? Or should I remind you that, even with this lead in WV and PA, HRC still can't catch Obama.
