I know I ran to the phone to donate. I suspect many, many did.

Any way to check?

5. I know it. Big time. That's why I want to see the magnitude of the feeling.

6. Ambiguity. A boost in "big money" or a "big boost" in money?

16. "side"? You mean Hatfields vs. McCoys?

I'm most in agreement with the positions taken by (and track record of) Dennis Kucinich. After all, I'm a liberal.

I have not yet seen an overwhelming reason to "support" either Obama or Clinton based on their positions or track records. The espoused campaign positions admit very little daylight. They're very close. Clinton's votes on IWR, Iran, Bankruptcy, and other anti-populist legislation have virtually assured I won't vote FOR her. The manner in which she's managed her campaign has eroded even more of my good will.

It boils down to ephemerals ... character and use of the "bully pulpit." I'd probably vote for Obama ... but not with the greatest confidence in his ideological integrity.

I regard the zeal shown on DU as brain-damaged ... visceral cheerleading for the sake of the posture and not the reality. It's VERY much like the entrenched support for Bush ... unassailable by an even-handed analysis of the underlying realities.

I'm an independent liberal. I eshew partisanship. I've ALWAYS detested pep rallies and marketing product launches and the slack-jawed cheering of rabble. I've NEVER been a member of a fan club and have always thought the mindless reactions to Sinatra, Presley, the Beatles, and ANY performer or celebrity as a form of insanity - a plastic substitute for the more profound joys of life. I tend to regard it as akin to faked orgasms by the spiritually frigid.
 (A bunch of f*cking "drama queens.")

17. Great fucking post.
I would love to meet you, share a few joints and talk.

You sound like a real good person to know, TN.

You're in Hawaii, right? Can we come visit you on our way to Japan sometime?

8. I donated
I think a lot of people did. But I am wondering if fundraising has been sluggish (at least comparatively) because of all the bad news this month. If Clinton outraises him that will be just one more bad news cycle and one more indication of "buyer's remorse" from the Clinton spin.

14. Thanks from me, too, Bonobo
For the reminder. We've been donating $100 twice a month to Obama until he's nominated. Then we'll take a look at our pension fund and see if we can dig out a thousand for him.

You're right about this being the only way we can vote. I live in Republican Utah. Donating to Dem campaigns elsewhere is the only way we can feel that our "vote" can count.

15. Wow, Utah, huh. You really have no votte, do you?
I am in Massachusetts and ironically, my vote here is not counted really either though -except for the primaries.

You see, we are ALWAYS blue, so it makes no difference how I vote essentially.

21. That would be kind of tacky
It would cheapen the speech if they announced how much money they had raised in the 24 or 48 hours after it.
