With the plethora of accusatory charges of both sexism and racism
which I've basically just observed, and in which I've not engaged (except for in the form of a joke earlier today about something completely inane),

I'm noticing more of a generational divide in terms of which candidate people are drawn to support.

Has anyone else perceived this?

Is age-ism even more prevalent than either race or gender in this competition?

Consider discussing.

Thanks in advance.

1. The objectification/commoditization of human beings is a pervasive corruption ...

... in our body politic.

Indeed, even in the "arguments" over which BRAND of human commodity is most undervalued (poor me!) the framing continues to exacerbate the regard for a fellow human being as a "type" rather than a unique and precious individual in their own right. I'm appalled by the "my victimization is worse than your victimization" idiocy. That folks are DRIVEN (stampeded) into "identity politics" by the sheeple dogs of -isms merely facilitates fleecing.

3. Well I'm not into stereotypes and there are always exceptions but
it was just an observation.

Part of my profession involves studying generational trends in a really odd way.

So that's my bias and I'm really tired of the limited sexism/racist arguments.

I really hope most people are more broad minded than that.

Obama's speech on race where he elucidated the disparity of generational influences of his former Reverend and his maternal grandmother sort of motivated me to post this as well.

I don't indulge in or endorse the odious comparison of pains or victim shticks either.

Yet we do draw from our experiences. So it's a delicate balance for sure.

2. Absolutely. Ageism is the real issue.

4. Great threads.
I had seen the Kool Aid one earlier, rec'd it, and it probably contributed to motivating me to start this thread but I've been thinking about the Me Generation and Hill's presumed entitlement juxtaposed the energy around Will.I.Am's videos for a while.

"Mechanistic reductionism often masquerades as maturity." It's totally bogus.

5. There are two vexing mysteries:
Why won't Hillary "let go"?
Why are Hillary's supporters so hostile to Obama's new youth movement?

I think the they're related questions, and that the answer to both is age-ism.

I can't come up with any other way to explain it.

6. Well that's why I made that particular quotation in my earlier post.
Dunno how old you are but I'm not a boomer or an X-er, and I see the Hillary supporters of the Boomer generation thinking that the dreams and ideals of the 60's are dead and to stick and cling to the status quo which is terribly broken, or trying to relive the 90's which are so terribly last millennial.

However I study cosmologies. This year we really are experiencing energies which resonate and express the promise of the late 60's. The older folks have more than a little bit of sour grapes about this possibility.

I certainly don't.

But I don't mean to generalize about age but my SIL is older than Hill and totally for Obama. Ahhh she voted for * twice.

Buyers remorse perhaps.

Still I don't think having two families dominate the executive branch of government for more than 2 decades is appropriate for this land formerly lauded as being the land of diversity and the lively discussion.
