The media is carrying the water for the Republican attack machine.
Using guilt by association, they are portraying Barack Obama as a racist, or at best, lacking judgement to separate himself from Reverend Wright. It is no different than what they did against Al Gore and John Kerry. The Republicans dig up dirt and the media makes mud out of it.

By innuendo, they make it seem that Obama hates America. Even though they know there is no evidence that Obama is a racist, they continue to play the clips of the angry Reverend. The Republicans in the media, ie, Pat Buchanan, Joe Scarborough, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and others, keep pushing this story. It is nothing less than a character assassination.

They must be called on their tactics. Either report the facts or stop the mudslinging. Barack Obama is not responsible for the words that are said by Reverend Wright. It is legitimate to say that he may have exhibited poor judgement in staying with the church. There are no more facts known. Only innuendo. They must be called on it.

1. Some of the water they carry has been given to them by the...
Clinton's. If Clinton is somehow the nominee, I am voting McCain because from what the Clinton's have been saying, he is the man for the job while Obama is not? I don't understand why they would talk good about the republican candidate while they trash a democrat, I mean, are they just doing as they are told by the elite?

The whole point is that nobody CAN "call" the Mighty Slime Machine on their tactics! How are you gonna do it? Who is gonna hear you?

3. The Democrats are so busy fighting each other....
that they are not willing to step into the middle of this sliming and defend one of their own. They will pay dearly for this failure.

7. Those attacks, most in 2000 were much worse.
Edited on Thu Mar-20-08 03:31 PM by AX10
Obama is a clean slate that the rw will have no problem filling-in.
The fall campaign is when it will get really bad.

Also, it's not the media's fault or Hillary's fault that Obama has a close relationship with Rev. Wright. That is his own doing.

8. Which ones were worse than these?
Was it the ones they called Al Gore an "exaggerator"? Or that he invented the Internet? Or that "Love Story" was based on his life? And that he lied about all those things? Which ones are you referring to?

11. Gore was attacked 24/7 for everything.
Including a bunch of made up nonsense.
Obama is being critisized for his relationship with one person.

18. Do we have details about Gore, you ask?
Sheesh!

Gore was attacked for his clothes. His sighing during the debates (yet they didn't attack W for excesssive blinking). He was accused of lying about EVERYTHING. They claimed he said that he invented the internet. He never said that exactly. They claimed he lied about being the inspiration for Love Story. Actually, he WAS partly the inspiration for Love Story. It goes on and on. He should have been more forceful in his rebukes, but this pre-911, and being nice was the thing, not being STRONG. Then the media piled on lies about the Florida coup. They passed on every pro-W thing they could and ignored the pro-Gore stuff. They ignored what really happened there entirely to be truthful. In other countries what happened in Florida would have lead to a Revolution, but not here. The media helped W with his coup. After it was all over, with W installed for some time, the Media Consortium finally recounted all the votes in Florida and found that, if all the votes that could be clearly for a candidate were counted, Gore would have won. But the media hushed it up. Even Drudge had a report that Florida should have gone to Gore, but the media were part of the Coup so, unlike the missing blonde bimbo of the week, it was barely touched by the Corporate media. It should have been front page news for a month. But no.

So you newbies haven't seen anything yet.

21. And which of those?
Is worse than the character assassination on Barack Obama at the moment? Yes, those were all bad and helped Bush steal the election, but this is a low point by the media, in my opinion.

9. Did you read the post?
What was Obama guilty of doing? Is he a racist? Or did he show poor judgement? Or did he say "God Damn America"?

15. Poor judgement
But if you are wanting the MSM to somehow change from their laying with the dogs (rethugs) you are asking too much. Obama has now opened the racial aspect of the race with some very good points. But don't think the media is going to help him carry his messge, he will have to do it itself. If there is nothing there....there is nothing there for them to beat him with. He chose the 20 years of sitting under the Pastor, not the media.

17. If it is about "judgement"?
Is it worse judgement than voting for the invasion of Iraq? That's a legitimate question.

23. Yes, but it is not "newsworthy"
It is a more partisan point than a true story. Obama's candicacy is based on who he is, this is just a telling point of where he came from. It is news, regardless of how important it is in the end. The media wants news. The war is going nowhere, there is nothing there for them to tell. It just needs to end. We need thsi addressed in the MSM and they are not. Come November we have to have a candidate who makes this THE story of the campaign or we'll have a hundred years of hell.

20. Gore and the internet?
Actually Gore said something like he took the initiative in creating the internet... On a legislative level.

And the true person credited with inventing the internet (I forget his name), agreed.

Gore was instrumental with getting the internet to the public on a legislative level.

22. The same media has not called out HRC about
her ties to her secret Fellowship.

http://www.motherjones.com/news/feature/2007/09/hillarys-prayer-2.html

"The Fellowship's long-term goal is "a leadership led by God—leaders of all levels of society who direct projects as they are led by the spirit." According to the Fellowship's archives, the spirit has in the past led its members in Congress to increase U.S. support for the Duvalier regime in Haiti and the Park dictatorship in South Korea. The Fellowship's God-led men have also included General Suharto of Indonesia; Honduran general and death squad organizer Gustavo Alvarez Martinez; a Deutsche Bank official disgraced by financial ties to Hitler; and dictator Siad Barre of Somalia, plus a list of other generals and dictators. Clinton, says Schenck, has become a regular visitor to Coe's Arlington, Virginia, headquarters, a former convent where Coe provides members of Congress with sex-segregated housing and spiritual guidance."

This group is more frightening than a 75 year old black minister.
