Most voters are fickle morons.
Brief Rant:

- 50,000,000 vote for Bush in 04.

- WILD swings in polls based on farts in the wind (against ANY candidate).

- People voting based on entertainment-style news stories instead of on issues.

- People deciding at the last second who to vote for instead of looking at beliefs/plans.

Are voters in other countries as DUMB as in the US?

5. Don't forget the worthless shit-for-brains Connecticuit electorate....
... But yah - America's greatest weakness by far is the fact that it's inhabited by simpletons who enjoy being simpletons.

7. The vote for president is least rational of all the votes we cast
it seems that the closer the election to home (state rep, city councilor etc) the more people vote on the actual issues but when it comes to president it's "who'd you like to have a beer with?"

8. They're not stupid. They're overworked and distracted. When the truth...
...does break through to them, they pretty consistently do the right thing.

9. Quick answer: No But the U.S. has a couple of things going against it.
1. The media. Corporate-owned with 24-hour drivel is not good.

2. The length of U.S. elections. Way too fucking long. It feeds into the never-ending bullshit the media dishes out with them having to unearth gotcha moment after gotcha moment, fueling their ratings and padding their bottom line while the real issues are disregarded like yesterdays trash.

3. The insane amount of money in these elections. It's a fucking crime for many reasons, the money could be used for more useful purposes, or the lobbyists, which perhaps should be # 4 on this list.
