SILVER LININGS FOR OBAMA!!!
Edited on Thu Mar-20-08 05:06 PM by futureliveshere
Its been a tough week for BO but there are some silver linings here:

    1. After this Wright blowup Obama can no longer be called a muslim, madrassa educated islamic fundamentalist. EVERYONE knows he goes to Church now.

    2. This whole incident would have definitely come about at sometime during the whole election process, it had to. Its good that it has come out now for 3 reasons:
      a. There is a large gap b/w primaries and hence Obama has enough time to build a response (as he is very effectively doing already) and
      b. He has already taken the lead in the primaries. He can afford something like this right now because (lets face-it), there ain't no way in hell HRC is going to win more delegates, popular votes or states than him now.
      c. He blunts the rethug attack on this issue later. It will not prevent them from attacking him with this issue, but the press attention now has definitely diluted the effect it will have later.

    3. HRC papers will start taking the lime-light soon (as they have already started). Public and the media have very short memories.

    4. I am just DROOLING with anticipation for when Hillary releases her tax returns a few days before the PA nomination. I am expecting some real revelations in there (considering the great reluctance with which they will be released).

    5. Obama was expected to lose PA anyways, so he doesn't have too much to lose right now. He can move ahead without worrying about the results.

To conclude,
Obama supporters, think Strategic always. Obama is NOT a namby-pamby helpless guy. He is an astute politician who has zoomed up the establishment-ladder in double quick time, in spite of being the most non-establishment person I can think of. One such controversy, however bad it seems will not bowl him over. Have faith as this is a war we are waging and we can afford to lose an occasional battle to keep us sharp. You think the politically entrenched, big-business combines (inc. media) will give up so easily?

But I am convinced Obama will come out of this much much stronger as it has already been seen (remember NH, Super Tuesday I & II). Adversity seems to bring out the best in him and I hope his supporters will also respond similarly.

edited to correct a typo.

2. Absolutely
This week will probably be a watershed, because once he is through this controversy he will truly be bullet-proof.

3. Don't you think Clinton will find a 'compelling' reason not to release
those returns? I do. And I still wonder why she's waiting until then. What would be the reasoning-anyone?

4. Her campaign has announced
that they would be releasing the returns around Apr15. I think she does it sooner or after PA to prevent it hurting her chances. But whatever she does, it doesn't matter. The voter might vote for her in PA, but the superDs will see her returns, the fall-out from that (which should be considerable) and move further away.

5. This is also his "Baptism by Fire"
He cannot be called "Unvetted" ever again... tho Mrs. Clinton's tax returns remain a glaring issue and will play for weeks and weeks to come...

they cannot say he has "had an easy ride" - which was bullshit anyway.

And you can already feel the bulk of American moving past this. Even McCain knows that to try to stir this is
suicide.

This is going to prove to be a huge turning point for Obama - and seal the nomination for him.

Obamanos to the presidency!!

6. Exactly...
No way is Obama unvetted, before or after this issue. Beating a Clinton itself proves you can take on anybody.

If you think her tax issues are an issue now, wait till they get released. then the SHIT will really hit the fan.

7. The man did not miss a beat while under this immense pressure.
He even sat down and composed a speech that will live in history books for generations. He's paid his dues in this campaign, it's time for her to pack up and get out of the way.

8. Au contraire
I think this does him good. Brings out the fighter in him. I really do believe that Obama has benefited from ALL the attacks. This will not be visible in the short term with all the talking heads and everyone bemoaning his falling poll numbers, but it will be a different story in a few weeks.

16. The tide has already turned.
The BO campaign looks energized while the press has started asking why the Clinton campaign is suddenly so quiet.

That has been an outstanding strategy to get over the race issue. Slowly and steadily we make progress.

13. I totally agree. Its a long time till the next primary and Gen Election.
Obama has always shown he can pull his numbers up after any crisis or in a state that he lags far behind in the polls.
Luckily there are no primaries this or next week. By the time Pen gets here the Wright scandal will all but be a small memory to most except those that were already for McBush to start with.

Unfortunately or fortunately voters have shown that they vote according to the news of the moment. At least about 10% of them do any way.

And, yup, Obama is no longer a muslim and this is the best time for this to have come out.
