Lifelong Republican Mayor of Camp Hill, PA Switches Parties to Vote Obama

By Sam Graham-Felsen - Mar 20th, 2008 at 6:47 pm EDT

The Patriot-News reports...

Camp Hill mayor switches parties to vote for Obama

Camp Hill Mayor Lou Thieblemont switched his lifelong Republican registration this week so he can vote for Democratic Sen. Barack Obama in Pennsylvania's April 22 primary.

"I'm sick and tired of the politics of fear in this country. He's the only one who doesn't do that," Thieblemont said of Obama. "He's the only candidate who's said he'd talk to our enemies and try to get some common ground."
A retired airline pilot, Thieblemont, 62, said he doesn't believe the Bush administration's claims that the United States is safer now. "We're all alone in the world. We have basically lost all our friends in the world with comments like 'bring it on.'"

Philadelphia, you are a redneck.

9. Camp Hill is a main "bedroom community" for the state capitol
The population there are often 3rd or 4th generation state employees, who are extremely savy, knowledgeable and cynical about politicians. I think this is a terrific development.

I also note that the airline pilots association are backing Obama because of their feeling that McCain let them down re some legislative issues. They also know McCain's rep as a spoiled military brat who partied his way through Annapolis and used his father's and grandfather's status as Admirals to generally get by with murder and to jump over many qualified men to get into flight school. He was never a particularly good pilot.

10. Camp Hill is also the HQ for Highmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield here in PA.
Interesting... Seems a number of die-hard pukes are fed up with Bushco and are going for Obama. I have been running into some myself, and all I can do is:

:wow:

13. And given McCain's reaction to his staffer's forwarding that Obama video ...
... McCain's certainly looking more gracious and Presidential than the filth that is the Clinton campaign.

Great news! :kick:
Many republicans have realized what Neocon rule has done to the country and also the Republican party. They are no longer the party of "fiscal responsibility" or "defenders of the constitution." That's probably why Ron Paul got so much support, so many repugs were sick and tired of neocon "borrow and spend, perpetual war" policies.
