Rasmussen: Obama's Unfavorable Rating Reaches 50%
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/daily_presidential_tracking_poll

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows Likely Democratic Primary Voters evenly divided the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination. Nationally, Barack Obama now holds a statistically insignificant one-point advantage over Hillary Clinton, 45% to 44%.

Before the story broke about his former Pastor, Obama led Clinton by eight percentage points. Today’s results are identical to those just before Obama’s Tuesday morning speech (see recent daily results).

Nationally, 51% of all Likely Voters said that speech was good or excellent. Just 21% said poor. However, 56% remain concerned about Obama’s relationship with Pastor Jeremiah Wright. See Obama’s Speech.

On Friday, Obama’s favorable ratings remain little changed from recent days—48% favorable, 50% unfavorable. Before the Pastor Problem became big news, Obama was viewed favorably by 52%. One month ago, he was viewed favorably by 56%. The number with a Very Unfavorable opinion of Obama has increased from 26% a week ago to 33% today.

McCain is viewed favorably by 54% of voters nationwide and unfavorably by 43%. For Clinton, those numbers are 43% favorable, 55% unfavorable (see recent daily results).

9. I used to admire her deeply -- I now think she's as bad as you get
If I were her, I'd be kissing my political ass goodbye.

They must be paying her a ton of cash.

24. Mission accomplished
She and McCain can form a coalition government to deal with a totally pissed off population.

Little known fact. HRC put forth an e-voting bill in the Senate that would have made things
much worse than they are now, and they're bad now.

There will be a serious blow back on this and who knows how it will work out. One thing for sure,
the Clintons have defined themselves in a way that effectively finishes them both as any type of
influence. Democrats will be free to point out NAFTA, neglect of the envirionment, the bombing and
starvation of Iraqi children and civilians to enforce a 'containment' policy; and for what end.

This is a turning point in American politics. I've never seen one candidate run to tarnish and
finish off the likely winer, never. But that's what we have now.

34. I completely agree. The conservative Clinton wing is siding with the McCain GOP
They're showing their true colors at last -- nothing persuaded me of it more than Bill Clinton's repulsive, disingenuous hate
speech. To hell with both of them and the entire DLC. They need to go and the real Democrats need to take over.

39. It's "Us versus Them" You're so right.
That speech was so disgusting. I guess we should be greateful for NAFTA, the failed health plan, and all the time wasted because somebody forgot "the dignity of the office" (literally).

Ex presidents generally lobbied for their place in history or golfed. But this is new. Can't give it up, so what's the answer - turn into the hit man.

We'd better take over.

The only good thing about this is there's a chance that Obama will see the hangers on like Brzezinski and the guy at Yale, his economic advise, who is a bit to "market driven" for me.

This is shameful. It's literally a move to elect a Republican if they can't have all the marbles.

32. By daring to win the Democratic nomination away from a Clinton?
How dare he! We're all to be ruled by BushClintons, you know.

All Obama did was be a viable non-DLC candidate. And since the corporate whore can't beat him,
she's going to throw the whole election to McCain.

40. Wrong
He's been doing quite well. Lost Ohio, won Texas - tight race and all that.

But this Rev. Wright business is out of hand. They're stoking the fires with the Clinton speech.
That will be his day of infamy, reduced to a cheap shot artist in the name of his own greed, and this
is all about him. HRC is a tool of his larger Bill-Poppy alliance.

Obama's speech in Philly was brilliant, I read and watched it. I'm no big Obama fan btw, but I do have respect for Obama and his intelligence and guts. I do have tremendous respect for his supporters who are projecting hope onto this candidate. They're the movement as much as he is, more really.

This was done, calculated, just like all the other cheap shots. Hillary standing behind a podium barking her little snipes about things Obama's aids supposedly said (or ex aids) and trying to tie him to that. How utterly pathetic.

The public knows what's up. They know and the Clinton era is finito, gone. No more celebrations of the great impeachment victory, the great waste of time.

Hillary negatives will soar if she is actually attacked. Obama won't attack her because he (unlike Hillary) will not kneecap a potential nominee.

...for the I'm For Hillary Clinton moment.....who cares.....having favorable rating is not necessary a sign of a good leader...at least Obama is genuine and just doesn't say anything cause it feels good and it's the popular thing to say.

12. Oh please
Sometimes the ignorance around here reaches absurdity.

It shouldn't surprise me that so many Americans are enamored with polls- no matter what their source, or agenda and that they allow themselves to be duped and manipulated repeatedly by them (which quite frankly, is embarrassing). Yet it still does.

Get a clue, people. In America most polls- ESPECIALLY cheap media polls and ones from right wing organizations are MEANT TO INFLUENCE PUBLIC OPINION, NOT REFLECT IT.

That's their purpose- and they only succeed because so many in this country have lost whatever ability they once had to think critically.

and I never remember a Rasmussen poll where he had a 56% favorable rating.

And anyway, he has a 60something favorable rating according to Gallup.

Evidently he isn't. This means his electability numbers relative to Clinton in the general election will continue to decline. Obama once had very low negatives.

Is Rasmussen now an expert?

And I don't really even know why I'm responding to you anymore, I see that you are completely obsessed with painting the worst case scenario for Obama (OUR LIKELY NOMINEE, HILLARY HAS ABOUT A 10% CHANCE) and his chances in the GE. Stupid...

20. So, what does this mean? Hillary for Secretary of State or Supreme Court
She and McCain get along so well, both loving the benefits of manipulating the country.

This is the product, not of the Republicans, but a relentless spewing of misinformation and half
truths.

Mission accomplished. Now we don't need to worry about who picks up the phone.

25. BREAKING !!! CNN POll: 60 % SAY OBAMA DOES NOT HAVE THE RIGHT EXPERIENCE TO BE PRESIDENT
While all three presidential candidates are locked in a dead heat in potential matchups, a new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll suggests voters see major differences in each of their personal qualities.

Obama is the only candidate who a majority of Americans -- roughly 60 percent -- say does not have the right experience to be president, the poll showed.
