Obama in Eugene, LIVE NOW
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 11:27 PM by sandnsea
At capacity, 9,000. Being shown on local TV, live, so I will try to keep you up to date. Crowd is rowdy, the local newsies are on now. There's been really friendly coverage.

The first people lined up at 5 am. Showing the crowd at 10:30 am and about 100 already in line.

You might try this link as well.

42. It was quite the topic of conversation around Portland.
We were at a cafe/bar and the server started chatting with a customer about the rally, Obama, how exciting it was, etc. Also I was at my kids' school earlier in the day and that was the buzz. My son's teacher let the kids watch the rally while they did Spring cleaning.

In Portland, I know LOTS of people for Obama, but only a few for Hillary.

2. Gen Tony McPeak taking stage
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 11:18 PM by sandnsea
He campaigned his heart out in 2003 and 2004. I think he was for Dean first, then Kerry. I don't like everything he says, but he really works hard. Talking personal stuff now.

Add: Now he's talking about CiC, since he's a 4 star general and knows a little about that. Wouldn't it be nice if we had a "smart" CiC. (cheers) The guy is amazingly smart. Cheers for race speech. "Nobody else could have written and given that speech". Another thing is leadership qualities. He said he had to order people, or pass out free whiskey. Barack Obama has a gift for leadership, that he gets by treating us like adults, and not tricking us with funny uses of language. Wouldn't it be nice if the guy in the Oval office had good judgment. It was a dumb war and he said so in the beginning. One more quality, is a sort of temperament that the Obama you meet tonight is the same one you met a week ago and the same one you'll met a week from now, he's steady. When that red phone rings, you better have a guy in there with that kind of temperament. These qualities separate him from the rest.

Introducing Obama, crowd goes wild.

Judgment and wisdom. Taking the 3 am call away from Hillary. Make choices on information, not ideology. Not fearmongering, not trying to act tough because it's politically smart. The troops pay the cost, the American people pay the cost.

At this point, urban Orgeon is nothing more than a Seattle satellite-state. Latte liberalism was born in Seattle (um... Starbucks?) The fact that Oregon loves Obama is about as "surprising" as the fact that East Germany stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Russia all throughout the Cold War.

64. Yeah, and Hillary's OH, RI, and TX were sooooo "shocking".
Another media bias mound of crap. She had HUGE machine and demographic advantages in those states going in, and the media and Clinton camp made those sound like such overwhelming and surprising victories. Her "great comeback". Your comments, by the way, are needlessly nasty and very Republican sounding.
