NY Times ... Awesome Trend for Obama; 62 to less than 5 in superdelegates

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/22/us/politics/22richardson.html?pagewanted=2&_r=1&ref=politics

<Mr. Richardson is the 62nd superdelegate to endorse Mr. Obama since Feb. 5, compared with fewer than five who have moved into Mrs. Clinton’s column since then.

The move by Mr. Richardson could give license to other superdelegates who had been holding back, at the request of the Clintons. His endorsement could prove particularly potent with this group because of the way he chastised Mrs. Clinton for the tone of the campaign, and his call for the party to unify around one candidate.>

10. A cursory glance
at that list shows the problem, I think. Many are in states that Hillary won and likely a good number of people who would have gone for Hillary. The first issue is more important anyway. In order to duck under the fact that Hillary won their states they need some real counter-weighing obvious and popular reasons. they are in fact on the spot and in no hurry to step even more into the spotlight. This "neutrality" is one of THE big reasons for Clinton's campaign strategy of arguing for state wins and then trying to get ahead in the popular vote. Each primary that comes up they keep hoping for a resolution, probably in Clinton finally falling flat because I wager most of them think the Clinton big argument for November is finished and the party itself in danger.

Richardson was widely expected to come out after Obama won in Texas. That didn't happen, nor may any other big upset come along to make it easier for the superdelegates. Remember they thought that the system made it easy for them because it was engineered to be all over with early and their deals and private alliances had already been made for HRC. This sudden bleating of betrayal by Richardson is all a deceitful show. Almost ALL of the superdelegates are lost except to the pleading by the Clinton campaign to let them have yet another shot at the late strategy. All that amounts to is putting the uneasiness with a young "untested" Obama over the coals- now, not in November- to see if he'll crack and they can go with the old tried and true standby. Much more likely, by now in all the heat and frustration, is that the supers and others would lead the way to a dark horse if both candidates succeed in making each other unviable.

Richardson and others are finally looking for lesser signs(Obama's brilliant speeches, the GOP/Clinton negativity attack) to finally suck it up and bring an end to what is turning out now ONLY to be in the interest of GOP sucker strategy. GOP polls, pundits, machinery are all getting behind Hillary with the peanut gallery of racist fearmongers and trolls. However, the others might be waiting to surf the wave of the effect(that takes time in coming) of Obama's speeches. Look for signs of desperate media suppression and downspinning. They look desperately to see IF they can have any effect on primaries that Clinton is expected to win handily. Clinton's remaining superdelegate support is extremely shallow among her "friends" and more a forbearance of getting caught in the middle.

Considering the tightening numbers of uncommitted left, the barrier of keeping the bloc independent and
reserved has long been broken and all the pious arguments with them. Those left, especially in states yet to vote show it is fear of various sorts, not loyalty, that keeps them from finishing off the agony
and perhaps saving the party.

I got my start here on DU. We were just in the right place at the right time when we started our superdelegate list in early January before anybody knew what a superdelegate was!

5. Stick a fork in her campaign
The Richardson endorsement, imo, is the end of Clinton's campaign.

11. ...who had been holding back, at the request of the Clintons
I'd like to hear which SD's are sitting on their ass at the request of the Clintons. Have any actually stated on the record that's why they are keeping this dance from finally ending?

I hope Bill Richardson does inspire some movement, because it seems like it will end the same way now vs 3 months from now. If that is the conclusion of most, why sustain it?

14. Mark Penn didn't get the memo: says Richardson endorsement "insignificant"
Penn's saying no one cares about Richardson's endorsement outside Texas, but that's clearly not the case;
especially in light of his super-delegate role and his clarion bell-weather endorsement calling on Hillary
to re-consider dropping out of the race for the sake of the party.

Penn's apparently not the sharpest tool in the toolshed.

when she finally quits, they have to get off the "Goodie train"..and get no more donor cash..

This is what;s irritating to me.. Millionnaires begging for cash from working class people, so they can pay their "advisors" big bucks..:puke:
