We know Hillary needs money
She folks who give a damn about her campaign to visit her site and chip in where they can. We know all of the swipes at her campaign team by heart now. But, the fact remains that she's actually gaining support at a time where other lagging campaigns have historically collapsed. We know there are supporters out here who want to see her candidacy go forward. That will take money.

from the NYT: http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/03/22/the-early-word-spring-break/

The Times’s Michael Luo notes that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has finally figured out how to raise funds on the Internet, with her take from the last month skewing heavily toward small donors as the big guns cap out. As Leslie Wayne reports, Mrs. Clinton took in $34.5 million in February:

Still, at the end of February, Mrs. Clinton owed $8.7 million to campaign vendors. The month earlier, she had lent her campaign $5 million. While she has $33.2 million in cash on hand, only $11.7 million can be used for her primary effort, with the rest set aside, by federal regulations, for the general election.

Once the outstanding campaign debt of $8.7 million is factored in, Mrs. Clinton has only $3 million in free cash for the battles ahead — one-tenth of the $31 million the Obama campaign has in primary cash.

That's as clear a call for those who give a damn about her candidacy to, once again, rally to her support with whatever we are able. I know bills are tight. But, I'm chipping in with $40 today. Who''ll join me?

1. Who here can match the 20 MILLION Dubai royals put into Clintons' bank account?
Surely they can tap that spout again.

a mere $5 million loaned to her campaign. That doesn't sound like a royal connection to me.

7. Are you saying Dubai didn't give Yucaipa that 20 million for Bill Clinton?
Surely you aren't trying to claim that is an invented story, bigtree, since there were a number of threads on it posted when it occurred - you must have seen them.

8. You're implying it's part of her funding of this campaign
I'm saying that she had at least 5mil in personal earnings and assets to loan her campaign the money.

And, if there's something illegal or unethical about the work Bill Clinton did for the Dubai-connected businessman then someone should get on with prosecuting that or calling for some Senate censure. Right now, it's just a hook from their critics which hasn't gotten the lift they imagined it would. I think that's as significant to the charges as anything else.

9. You know and I know that same Dubai money source staked a large share of BCCI.
The same BCCI that had so many matters deep-sixed throughout the 90s by that same Bill Clinton.

20 million is a hefty paycheck for just advocating for Dubai to get that ports deal, eh?

14. You don't KNOW it's the same BCCI source of money or you don't know if advocating
a ports deal is worth 20 million dollars?

2. She'll do fine
especially now that she's ahead in the polls. Its good she's also setting aside money for the GE.

10. She doesn't set aside the money for GE - the rules for donor limits forces the money be separate.

3. Being in the red last month might not be a problem.
In her position, she should be spending as fast as she can. If there is a way to win honestly, she must either pursue it or drop out.

I'm afraid, though, that no money can buy her enough delegates to win, unless it be with a Supreme Court case. My money's going to Obama.

11. Your money is better spent contributing to a charity of your choice.
Her primary campaign is dead in the water.

13. So dead that it's preventing your candidate from winning the nomination by votes cast alone

15. She would need to win ALL remaining contests and supers
by a 60/40 margin to have 2026 pledged delegates going into the convention. It's not impossible, but it is HIGHLY improbable.

20. I encourage setting up an automatic bill pay system
to stroke a a check each week until election day (regardless if she's the nominee). Make it hurt, don't be stingy.
