Passportgate: Correct Me Where I'm Wrong On This.
Edited on Sat Mar-22-08 11:48 AM by malik flavors
This is what I've gathered, and I would like to be corrected if i've missunderstood anything.

1. Hillary's passportgate is an open and shut case. A new employee (not contract worker) that was being trained entered her name into the sysytem last summer and was disciplined right at that moment. They didn't fire the person, because i'm guessing it was simply a mistake. If there's more to her case, what is it?

2. The First Obama breach was a contract worker from "Stanley," and that woker was fired. They never reported it.

3. The second Obama breach was a different contract worker from "Stanley," and that worker was also fired. They never reported it.

4. The third Obama breach was another contract worker, but this individual also looked at McCain's passport, and he was from "Analysis."

* The CEO of "Analysis" is John Brennen, and Obama advisor.

*I also recall reading that "Analysis" is based in Arkansas, and that two people directly below Brennen in power have endorsed Hillary. Can anybody confirm this?

* Maura Harty, The State Department official in charge of the Bureau Of Consular Affairs, served under George Bush I, Bill Clinton, and George Bush II.

IF I'M INCORRECT IN ANYTHING I'VE WRITTEN PLEASE PROVIDE A LINK TO THE CORRECT INFORMATION.

IF YOU CAN'T PROVIDE EVIDENCE, JUST LEAVE IT ALONE PLEASE.

1. Perhaps you could provide a few links as well.
Just to check on the accuracy of that which you have written.

4. You're correct on the details of the breaches.
I don't know anything about who the top leadership of Analysis has endorsed. And yes, Harty served as Ambassador to Paraguay under Clinton (97-99), and Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Consular Affairs under Shrub, but there's no mention of politically appointed jobs under Bush I in her Wikipedia entry: those were all (to my knowledge) career civil service jobs.

10. That's where I mixed it up. I was Stanley, not Analysis, that had expanded to Ark.

and two of the top people at Stanley are Clinton supporters. I would change the OP, but it timed out.

Here's some detail on the office being in Arkansas:

After the State Department awarded the contract to Stanley in 2006, the firm announced it would build a new facility in Hot Springs, Ark., to handle the massive contract. Arkansas governor and former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee expressed his delight that the new building would be located in his state

and here's a link to an article about it:

12. So she has close ties to the people at Stanley, and she was the one responsible
for reporting the breaches. Which she didn't do.

I'm not sure about who's endorsed whom and all I've heard about is the Analysis guy giving the maximum contribution to Obama.

Passport scandal leads to Virginia contractors
Posted on Friday, March 21, 2008 4:07 PM PT
Filed Under: Politics
By Jim Popkin and Libby Leist, NBC News

Two of the government contractors who accessed Sen. Barack Obama's passport records worked for a Virginia-based firm called Stanley, Inc., the company said in a statement. A third contractor who looked at passport information for Sen. Obama and Sen. John McCain worked for a company called The Analysis Corporation, the State Department said.

"Two Stanley subcontractor employees were involved in the unauthorized access of Senator Barack Obama's passport files," a Stanley, Inc., spokeswoman said. "In each of these instances the employee was terminated the day the unauthorized search occurred."

"While this is a rare occurrence, we regret the unauthorized access of any individual's private information," Stanley spokeswoman Joelle Pozza added.

Stanley, Inc., is headquartered in Arlington, Va. The State Department awarded it a contract for $164 million in 2006, to print and mail millions of new U.S. passports. Stanley announced on Monday that it was awarded an additional $570 million contract to "continue support of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs/Passport Services Directorate."

One Stanley, Inc., contractor looked at Obama's passport records on January 9, and then a second Stanley employee accessed similar Obama records on February 21, U.S. officials familiar with the controversy told NBC News. The Stanley spokeswoman would not identify the workers or explain why they had accessed Obama's passport data. The State Department Inspector General is now investigating.

Nolan gave $1,000 to Clinton; Brennan gave $2,300 to Obama.
