Dear Newbies in GD-P: Do you want to be taken seriously?

Let's face it, without naming names, I will just say that there appear to be quite a few trolls and reincarnates from being tombstoned on the GD-P forum. I have a suggestion to end what appears to be quibbling over whether a newbie is or is not for real and whether someone new is to be taken as an honest DUer:

If you are new to DU and truly want to participate in this organization, please:

1. Do not hide your profile. Post a complete and full one that indicates where you live, etc.; and

2. Take this link and donate to the DU. There is nothing like showing your sincerity and that you are for real by putting your money where your mouth is.

I got my first Scottie back in about 1958 or 1959 when I was in upper grade school and I first read about FDR. I wanted a dog just like he had. And since my first Scottie, not counting the rescue Scotties I have placed, I am currently on my 5th Scottish Terrier ~~ I did have two of them at one time, tho.

Yes, my wee lassie prior to the wee one I now have, would go absolutely ape-shit over the words, "Ronald Reagan." We used to look at her and go through a whole litany of names...every president Dem or Rep we could think of...and, dang, when the "double R" name came out, she went into a total tizzy!

BTW: I have it on good authority through the Scottie hotline that both Barney and Miss Beazley are hard-core Democrats!

34. my great auntie used to raise scotties. Mama told me they looked

like little toys when they were puppies because they looked exactly then what they would grow up to be. Cute huh? That statue is adorable. Fala was great. My mama got into a fight with a kid who dissed FDR and beat the crap out of him. My grandma said he deserved it. Of course Grandma would say that if mama had shived him. FDR and my mother were perfect in her eyes. :P

Its been reported that trolls and some Obama supporters have made threats against posters, some even going so far as to contact employers w/ threats to get forum posters fired.

During the last primary, someone figured out my identity and made harrassing phone calls and sent threatening emails. I ended up filing a report w/ the local police department.

Be very careful about personal information you make available on this forum. Don't trust anyone.

I just have an area of Calif where I live...so I do agree that it is best to not give out too much info. But lately with a lot of the "questionable" newbies, I have seen this: "gender undeclared" along with absolutely -0- info given out. I mean...how about just a state or a basic area, like West Coast, New England, etc.? That is often of interst to me when someone if posting something that refers to the area where they live and they fail to say where the heck it is that they live! Also: Why all of the hidden profiles all of a sudden?

Why in the hell would someone care if it was known if he or she was male or female? I know that might be an issue with those of us who are transgendered, but all of a sudden nearly evey newbie honestly would be in that category? Ummmmm....no, I don't think so.

a lot of people left Dailykos because they were being personally harassed by some Obama supporters. It was part of what led up to the writer's strike.

Yes, I reported my experience to Skinner. He did nothing. I also reported it to the police and informed the harasser that I had done so. Turns out the scumbag already had a criminal record for soliciting sex from young boys and it scared him off.

If you think I'm going to give you any of my personal information, forget it. I've learned the people who ask for proof on these things are the ones most likely to become stalkers.
