A Dean fan puts a Kerry bumpersticker over her Dean bumpersticker
Edited on Sat May-08-04 10:56 PM by zulchzulu
I was doing some tabling today and had the privilege of talking with one woman who wanted a Kerry bumpersticker. She was torn whether to take the Dean sticker off and start anew with the Kerry bumpersticker or wanted to know what I thought about having the Dean sticker remain but put the Kerry sticker next to it.

I pointed out that I knew a few Dean and Kucinich fans who had both stickers on their vehicles; namely a Dean and a Kerry and a Kucinich and a Kerry sticker on their cars. The stickers were placed next to each other.

I later saw her and she had artfully put the Kerry sticker over her Dean sticker but you could still see a pinch of the Dean sticker underneath. Being that she was an artist, I figured it wasn't an accident.

Where I'm living at the moment, bumperstickers are an art when it comes to expressing yourself succinctly via your car bumper...for the most part anyway.

1. I'm not ready to put a Kerry sticker over my Clark sticker...
but I will put a Kerry sticker to Clark's left. Maybe those two will be keepers.

13. I've got two Clark stickers, one Kerry sticker
and one Kucinich sticker. I have the Kerry sticker right next to the Clark 04 one so it looks like it says Kerry/Clark 04.

My other Clark sticker just says "America needs Wes Clark". Thats not going anywhere. I consider it to be true absolutely without regard to the eventual Presidential ticket.

I kind of like having a very eclectic collection anyway.:)

2. That's funny because my husband and I had the same discussion...
...just the other day about whether to keep Dean visible, take him off the car, or cover him with Kerry.

3. Place them next to each other...or....
It depends on the interpretation you feel it may bring by those Freepers in their Hummers at the red light on a hot summer day.

They might assume you're a commie infiltrator.

If you have both next to each other, the Kerry fans will appreciate it. The Dean fans would like it.

Most Democrats would find it interesting in general and they may want to slow down and stare at you at newly green light acceleration driving sequences out of curiosity to observe what stereotype you might fit into. Same with Repugs.

It's the possible unwanted discussion you might run into at different events that you might consider just sticking with a Kerry sticker and letting people know you're basically not a Bush fan and want his ass sent back to Texas.

Your call...

4. We decided to go with the Democracy for America bumper sticker for now.
Edited on Sat May-08-04 11:16 PM by madfloridian
Later we may find it in our hearts to do a yard sign for Kerry, but the bumper sticker will remain. We are really trying, and my hubby is as bad as I am about getting over losing our candidate. But we are trying.
On Edit: We donated to Kerry and will vote for him.

5. Good choice
The DFA sticker pretty much sends the same message as a Kerry sticker for the most part.

You'll still get stares from the Freepers. And that's a good thing.

6. I've got a Dean and a Kerry sticker
Plus a couple for local races. And a DU of course. When the DFA sticker comes I will add it to the melange. I have crossed the line between have a bumper sticker or two and nut.

8. I'll vote for Kerry, but I'll campaign for other candidates first
I was at state party headquarters today, screening for a position on the board of directors. There was a stack of DFL fridge magnets and a stack of John Kerry bumper stickers-- one of the few places I've seen them yet in this state, btw.

I grabbed a couple fridge magnets, but passed on the Kerry stickers. Yes, I'll vote for him, but I have yet to see any other reason to support him other than he's not Bush. Yes, he's better than Bush, but I hate to settle for another Gore or Clinton, who pays lip service to progressive issues but governs by focus groups and "kinder, gentler" corporate-friendly policies.

There's a couple of solid, progressive congressional candidates who need help this year, and they will get the majority of my money and efforts. Kerry seems to have no problem raising money so far, so my unemployment check won't help him any.

So for now, my Kucinich sticker stays put, next to my peace and pro-choice stickers on my back bumper. If Kerry starts standing up and talks like he means it (instead of talking in the circular platitudes of a politician), he may still make it to my bumper. For his sake and my sake, I hope he does.

10. I think the solution is to get a "Fuck Bush" bumpersticker...
No matter who we supported in the primary, we can all agree that Bush sucks.

11. I saw my first Kerry bumper sticker today
It was on the bumper of a Lexus SUV.

Not very impressive to someone like me that is driving a 10-year old Honda Accord manufactured in Ohio by UAW workers.

12. Got Kerry and Clark
I put the Kerry sticker on the left and left Wes in his original position.

In all seriousness...we do need to come together now and "fall in love" with Kerry. We can't afford the alternative.

This week I've had three good friends come to me all excited about the possibility of a brokered convention...for unloading Kerry. I don't know a single person who loves Kerry and who isn't dissing him or sneering in some way.

I also went to a meetup that I thought was a Party meetup...but turned out to be a DeanFest.

And here I am, reluctant to give up my first love...Wes Clark. (and seeing him on MTP this morning did nothing to move me to give him up).

This is a problem, folks.

I do have a Dean sign in my Pa yard though.

15. I've got four Dean stickers on and I've never been more
proud that they are on my car than now.

Every bad thing happening in Iraq makes me want to scream "DEAN WAS RIGHT!"

For a while, I felt like I should take em off but now when I see the stickers it reinforces how perfectly correct Dean was and how he thought the situation through when no one else did.
