Watching the right wing media with grave concern
If you all recall, back in 2004, as soon as John Kerry became the dominant frontrunner, Drudge ran stories alleging that Kerry had an affair, I remember one about Teresa Kerry back in February 2004 as well. Then, of course, he broke ths swiftboat story the day of Kerry's acceptance speech, I believe. He pushed the Mary Cheney story as well.

So far, since Obama became the frontrunner, we have Dick Morris saying awesome things about Obama. We have Drudge. I just checked him out because I'm bored on this lazy Saturday afternoon and his headline is "Gallup: Obama back on top." When the Michelle Obama story broke, it was his blaring headline for an hour and then it was taken down.

Drudge didn't even blast the Reverend Wright story the way he would have if Kerry had faced this in 2004.

What's going on? Dick Morris saying Obama will survive. Saying she's not a heavy lifter. Drudge not making Rev. Wright a gigantic siren story.

What I am concerned about is that Drudge and Morris et al have something even more explosive than Wright that they're just waiting to use, maybe in the middle of September perhaps?

It's clear that the right wing wants Obama to be the nominee. Is it just because they hate Hillary so much or is it because they have something explosive ready to blow us up with once Obama is the GE candidate should that be the case.

This isn't a pro Hillary post. It's a post wondering WTF is up with them? To be fair, Hannity and Limbaugh have blasted Obama fiercely so at least they're not complicit in whatever is going on but still I am concerned. I would have liked Drudge and Morris to be a lot more critical than they have been. Maybe, they just think (wrongly in my view) that an AA can't be elected no matter what? That would put my mind at ease to a degree. What does DU think?

1. I long ago stopped worrying about the RW press.
Edited on Sat Mar-22-08 05:21 PM by azmouse
They will lie about everything. It doesn't matter who the Dem candidate is. They will be smeared.
Stop letting the RW decide who our nominee should be.
It's time we focused on McSame and all his negatives.

5. What ones?
Weather underground doesn't count. That's a total smear. They did the same to WJC too. Gotta do better than that.

10. My sister and her husband are staunch repukes
I talked to her today and she said there are more scandals on Obama and for me to not get my hopes up about either dem candidate. She knows I support Hillary and she said Obama or Hillary will be crushed in the GE. We got into a heated argument and we hung up pissed off at each other, but not before I told her HER candidate was an old man with dememtia. :grr:

12. oh ok
Yeah Sean Hannity said "there's more to come out" last week. That's probably what your sister is going by. Of course, anything is a scandal to that jerk, Hannity.

:grr:Most repukes watch him and listen to limpballs. I wish they could be taken off the air-waves. But I think they have something on Hillary too,it wouldn't surprise me. I don't know what, though. We all know she is a lesbian who killed Vince Foster. :eyes:

15. I read on Huffington Post...
that there is a book coming out in May that is about "the Fellowship"...the Senatorial Prayer Group that HRC is a member of.
the author "infiltrated" the group...don't know much about it, but that would be something to watch for.....

4. The GOP base really (REALLY) doesnt want McCain to win the GE
They have hated him since he dared to challenge their hand picked idiot in 2000.

But......they hate Hillary even more.

6. Drudge wanted to use the Wright story in the GE
Edited on Sat Mar-22-08 05:25 PM by PM7nj
I'm guessing he knew the Wright story would hurt more in the GE than the primary so he just didn't say anything about it. Dick Morris just hates the Clintons so much he will do anything to bring them down, that is no mystery.

7. My perspective must be different...
"It's clear that the right wing wants Obama to be the nominee"

I don't see THAT AT all....
I see McCain cozying up to Clinton and Vice Versa.
I hear constant "no experience"....
I see everyone jumping on the Wright Story.

Regardless of who the nominee is -- I'm SURE the right wing will have something EXPLOSIVE (in their mind) we just need to make sure that the swiftboating doesn't stick this time.

9. True
Yeah I think they'd love to run against Hillary but they hate her so much that they want her to lose. Maybe that's it. They hate Hillary so much that they'll tear her down now and worry about tearing Obama down later if they can.

I could buy that.

11. I think Drudge and the right media will have stories about either Clinton or Obama
It would be phenomenal to think that they wouldn't come up with something against either Democratic nominee. They're just waiting for the convention to sort things out. It could be stories with a kernel of truth or complete fabrications like the John Kerry affair. But I'm sure they're cooking up rare treats for either Clinton or Obama, come GE time.

14. It's very simple: Drudge loathes the Clintons
anyone who can destroy Hillary is someone Drudge will promote.

He's only been so frighteningly pro Obama because it helps destroy Hillary.

stomach it.
That being said, I agree. Someone some place is cooking up the mother of all smears.
Whatever happened to that story of sex with some guy in the back of a limo? I assume that one is dead also?

20. why are democrats such cowards, if the opposition play dirty
we play dirty. Our side raises more money than their side does, if they use 527's to slang mud then so should we. John McCain has a lot of things in his past that are not being talked about out respect for the man. But if they're willing to disrespect our candidate then we throw the kitchen sink at McCain. Democrats have to man-up and prepare for war when the general election come around and be willing to fight fire with fire.
