Please DU watch HBO's John Adams Mini-series |
|
Edited on Sat Mar-22-08 07:36 PM by Araxen
Especially the first two episodes to see why we need somebody like Barack Obama as our President. We need a uniter to bring this country back together and somebody that will fight for US and not the corporations. We can let this republican and democrat pissing match to continue. We need to fix this country and only Barack Obama can do this. We need Barack Obama to restore America to what our founding fathers wanted it to be. This shouldn't be a nation lead by fear like George Bush and Dick Cheny and the republicans have done in the last 8 years. We need a leader that will not use fear to erode out rights that founding fathers bleed and fought for.
We need Barack Obama!

1. If you are referring to Adams |
|
he wasn't exactly a uniting President. He passed the Alien and Sedition Acts which destroyed his political party and split the country in two.

Salient our history is to our future and why Mr Obama as a constitutional protector is exactly what we need

Fascinating. I wish I had a better Internet connection; Adams was a complex man.

3. Strange. I was reading The New Yorker article about Adams, last night. |
|
Not once did they allude to Barack Obama as being relevant to the story of John Adams.

|
of it The Constitution heard it was a best seller.
I know Ms Clinton isn't a big fan of it, but her supporters should try to read it some time

Oh, that thing that was supposed to protect the voters in Florida 2000 and Ohio 2004, the suppressed voters in a fraudulent election?
Yes, I seem to remember Obama's activism about protecting the Constitutional rights of voters in elections. No. Wait. That was Jesse Jackson.

Unlike Ms Clinton who only knows 35 yeas of life in elections and politicians, so it makes sense that is all that would matter to one of her suppoters.

For all the hoohaw over Barack's supposed command of the Constitution, he failed to step up to protect it when it mattered most. Voter suppression.
Jesse Jackson understood so clearly, though.

23. I addessed it you missed it, Mr Obama wasnt a washington politician or in washigton during those.... |
|
periods. Where was Ms Clinton who was there and in a position to do something about it.
Oh thats right, The Clinton's did not strongly back Al Gore or John Kerry. The democratic candidates. In fact in 2004 they were to busy seeding the DNC to make the 18 state plan stronger by controlling the delegate selection process thats what they were fighting for while Mr Obama was in Chicago fighting for his constituents as he was elected to do.

27. Jesse Jackson wasn't a Washington politician, either, nor is he a Constitutional lawyer. |
|
Face it. Obama didn't want to stick his neck out. He was a rising star, handpicked by John Kerry to deliver the glorious speech at the Convention, but for all his Constitutional professorial creds, he wasn't up to the task of protecting the voters of Ohio.
Too bad, it would have been something to hear his wonderful rhetoric. At least Jesse Jackson spoke out.

But just recently I discovered James Meeks is an executive director on the Rainbow Coalition and that turned me off with Jackson. You know James Meeks is homophobic and anti-abortion.

Uh, Meeks hasn't been Jackson's mentor for 20 years, has he? ;)

He wasn't going to go against Obama and compromise his son's political future in Chicago. The op-ed he wrote a few months ago basically hinted who his real preference was: Edwards.

38. I'd also like to add for the Adams haters |
|
When Adams was president, he sent a peace commission to France when almost everyone else wanted to declare war against France. War was averted, and peace occurred between France and America. 3 years later, America purchased Louisiana from France, which doubled its size and made way for expansion West. If it weren't for Adam's bold move and insistency of making peace with France, America might be a quarter of its current size. I'd say that he accomplished something during his presidency.
