I enthusiastically agree with the growing consensus here on DU that officially or not, the primary free-for-all season is now over. It is time to focus on the GE, to build our arguments for the Democratic candidate and against the Republican, and to let the mudslinging die. It's over.

1. We need to start protecting our nominee. For all intents and purposes, that's Obama.

8. The Clinton supporters did NOT lose. Their candidate has (regrettably, for them) lost.
Big difference.

11. So you're saying it's okay to rub the loss in their faces...
Edited on Sun Mar-23-08 11:55 AM by ClassWarrior
...regardless of who's to blame for it?

(For what it's worth, I was saying "now that the campaign has lost," but in order to fit a complete thought into a thread title, sometimes it's necessary to abbreviate.)

NGU.

They could easily blind-side us with something else even it is completely false.

15. I think we should start an emailing/phoning
campaign to the televised media. I don't know that it will 'matter', but I think a concerted organized effort by Obama supporters can not hurt. Like a certain day and time. I think organization is the key, and if we can join forces with Kos and other blogs I think it could make a difference. Push back!

17. If the primaries are over now,
then you've lost any chance of my support in the GE.

I'm holding out for a brokered convention that will give me a candidate that can unite the party. A candidate worthy of my vote.

A candidate who is neither HRC nor Obama.

19. Ok - but you really aren't making a whole lot of sense.
A brokered convention that selects neither of the two remaining candidates is hardly an outcome that will 'unite the party'.

I will vote for whomever is nominated, which barring some massive catastrophe, will be Barack Obama. Obama is my third choice, but that really isn't important.

What is important is ending 8 years of Republican corruption incompetence and misrule.

24. I think it makes plenty of sense.
Niether HRC nor Obama will unite the party. We can see that, right now. As a matter of fact, neither of them can earn my vote in November, and I want to vote for a democrat, so it makes perfect sense that I hold out for the brokered convention.

I believe that a candidate from outside the current two has the best chance of bringing everyone together. I'll hold out for that admittedly slight chance, because I think it would be best for the party and for the nation.

While I empathize with your goal, "screaming" it at me doesn't make a more powerful impression. I frankly don't see HRC OR Obama as fundamentally different than McCain, and all the rhetoric and campaign propaganda you can throw won't change that. I want a REAL difference from republicans in the WH next year.

I don't mind saying so, and I don't intend to bow down to the inevitable corporate, repub-lite candidate without fighting all the way to election day.

26. Maybe you all should go to a forum titled General Election. Then
you can get started with your strategy.

The fact that you continue to call for Hillary to withdraw shows that you all know Obama has not won and she has not lost.

Oh those pesky rules.

28. Both sides should just move from the negative and promote...
the positives of their candidate. No need for Clinton supporters to give up, they should just try and PROMOTE the positives of their candidate instead of promoting the negatives of the other democratic candidate. Obama supporters should do the same, that is, if we want a democrat in office. If we want McCain, continue as you were and follow your campaign kitchen sink emails.
