Poll question: Could you admit that the opponent of your candidate did something constructive?
Edited on Sun Mar-23-08 06:59 PM by andym
Given the polarizing glasses that many wear during (and sometimes after) the nomination process,
could you admit that the opponent of your candidate for the Democratic nomination did or said something constructive/positive in the recent past or coming days.

If yes, give an example.
If no, explain why.

For the purposes of this poll, we'll exclude "withdrawing from the campaign" as example of a positive action.

updated to add a simple NO.

3. Sure. It does not contradict the "If it stinks let it sink rule"
Hell, if mCcain did something I thought worthy of praise I would give him kudos here for it. In his case, I admit to not keeping an eye open for such an event but if it did....

Far less than simply constructive, many of us here have congratulated our worthy opponent's supporters when their candidate has gotten a win or a super-delegate endorsement. This leads me to believe that folks here prefer to give praise where praise is due. I kept this non-partisan deliberately because backing a specific candidate in the DU has not changed the fact that we are progressives. Progressives, generally speaking, are nice like that.

4. Hillary showed that women can be formidable forces in politics.
Despite my strong opposition to her now, I have always admired her for how tough she is. Recently that has changed, though, as I see her actions as coming from a place of weakness and feel as though I have gotten to "know" who she is much more fully. Still, she is a tough nut, and even though I think that her brand of "fighting" is more destructive than constructive, I admire her at least for her stubbornness and will--in terms of overcoming stereotypes. And that's as far as my admiration goes.

100% for YES after about 5 hours. Very surprising result given the posts here.
