The whole philosophy behind "Let it sink" is contradictory, cliquish, and, well, stupid.

Ok...so someone posts a thread critical of Obama. Instead of offering a well-reasoned response, you scream "Let it sink!"

But by doing so, you kick the thread that you say should sink, and you make yourself look like a rube who's incapable of rational discussion of national politics.

I guess "Let it sink!" is the DU version of the junior-high "Don't talk to that girl!" slam. It's just silly.

And if that isn't enough, then someone crafts and circulates a list of Hillary supporters to be banned and ignored. Sooo middle-schoolish.

Why not just stay away from GDP if you can't stand to reply to threads and if you've got 60 supporters of your opponent on ignore?

I'm not suprised at any of these divisive methods, though, when I realize which people are leading this movement. I guess some people never emotionally grow beyond adolescence. :(

So I respectfully disagree with your characterization of it, though maybe the original good idea is being misused.

BTW, I met him about four years ago in Vicksburg, Mississippi. I was visiting the Battlefield Park there, and it was vacant, because it was winter. So my son was playing on the cannons (it's a memorial park to the civil war battle of Vicksburg) when I look up, and there's the park manager walking through the park with this tall, limping, graying man wearing glasses. I thought to myself, that guy is someone...who is he?

As they got closer, I realized who it was! He said hi, we said hi...and then we moved on through the park. At every stop, King and the park manager arrived right behind us, so we had several conversations. I tried to pretend that I didn't realize that he was the GREAT STEPHEN KING, but couldn't resist. At the Illinois memorial, I finally confessed that I knew who he was, and extended my hand to him, told him that I had been a big fan since his career began. He shook my hand, said thanks, and that he was in Vicksburg doing research on the south for an upcoming project.

We then clapped our hands and shouted inside the memorial to hear the echo...and we moved on to the next monument.

That was my proudest brush with greatness, except when I met Dolly Parton as a five year old girl. :D
