Why Obama cannot win in November.
Edited on Mon Mar-24-08 09:31 PM by Skip Intro

He hasn't been vetted, for one. If the Dem party is too shy to look behind the media blitz that is the shiny, spinning O, you can bet your bottom dollar the repukes are not.

He can't win without FL and MI, he's not going to carry TX anymore than he'll carry Utah. Meanwhile, with his blessing, the party is telling DEMOCRATIC voters in FL and MI that their voices, their votes, dont' count for shit. Think they'll forget that and come out in huge numbers to support the party that told them to fuck off a few months earlier?

Rezko. How many times has Obama "clarified" his relationship with this slum lord?

Repukes will run on what has "won" for them the last two cycles - national security and patriotism. What did they do to Cleland and Kerry with little more than twisted ads? What can they do with Rev. Wright - Obama's spiritual mentor for twenty years, screaming "God Damn America," Michelle saying she'd never been proud of her country before Obama ran, and the vid/pic of Obama not placing his hand on his heart for the national anthem when all those around him did?

If you want to dismiss that last reason racist, then you must be living in a fairy tale. They will use it, it will be effective, and it will cost us the election, should he be the nom. It's not racist (like Rev Wright slamming Hillary for being white, or the Obama crowd twisting Bill's "fairy tale" comment into something racist) to see the political reality of the situation, and point it out.

21. Why did Obama lie about the amounts received from Rezko?
If the Rezko thing is really "dead" then why does Senator Obama have to lie about the amounts he received from him? Maybe if Senator Obama releases ALL his tax returns as well as his papers from his stint as a State Senator we would have a better idea. Say, when is Senator Obama releasing all those tax returns and releasing those papers?

29. He did not lie - he did not know the full amount
because they were not direct donations.
Some research had to be done.

34. Research, eh?
In 2006 Senator Obama told reporters that his "best estimate" was that Rezko raised "between $50,000 and $60,000", in 2007 that figure was determined to be 3X that amount or close to $168,000. And 2 weeks ago he disclosed it was closer to $250,000. Only a $200,000 difference from what he took from a reknowned fixer in Chicago political circles. Sorry, my bullshit detector is going off.

31. He didn't
Look it up.

Here's a thought experiment for you though: If he had lied about it, then it would surely be in the news quite a bit, just like the Bosnia thing was. Especially given that he talked to the Tribune the same day he addressed the Wright issue. Last week pundits and others would have been talking about both issues. When in fact, there was further talk about Rezko only with the Tribune, and his story matched up with what he had said before.

37. He lied, the information is out there
Why it's not being picked up and pounced on is a matter of speculation but we're no where near Convention time so we will know more by then and there are people digging into this as well as the current court trial for Mr. Rezko. The Bosnia thing is actually a very good indicator of just how popular Senator Clinton is........there was nothing of any consequence to the story about First Lady travelling to a war zone as a civilian to provide a morale boost to the troops stationed there, a courageous act in and of itself. Were there snipers? Was she warned about snipers from the pilots, had she been warned about snipers in a pre-flight briefing? Does it make a difference? No. The First Lady of the United States travelled voluntarily to a war zone to show her support, and the support of all Americans, to the troops stationed there. That's the only part of the story that matters and it's true.

Hillary has been vetted a lot before 2000, and been found lacking by 55% of the people.

She hasn't been vetted at all since 2000, and that's why she won't release her tax returns and earmarks.

Surely he must have released all of his records seeing as how you are so interested in Senator Clinton's. He did release them all, didn't he? If not then he'd better have them ready for publication and review for the voters before the convention.

Let's see the good Senator Obama's tax returns for the same periods that Senator Clinton has released hers for. And whole we're at it, he should also release the papers from his stint as State Senator. And if he's "vetted" than why does he keep changing the amounts he got from Rezko?

They will cross Party lines in droves once that curtain closes in the voting booth. Just which Republicans is Senator Obama drawing across Party lines? Senator McCain is already seen as a moderate in the GOP so there goes that brilliant plan.

Im just wondering since Obama is beating Clinton, but you seem to be saying McCain will win.

So by your logic we should put the candidate thats losing to Obama up against the obviously stronger than Clinton McCain and expect her to win?

27. Bosnian trip for US Deployed forces morale?
Could that possibly be the "lie" you're talking about? Pretty pathetic if the best anyone can come up with is her not remembering exactly the details of a trip she took while a civilian to comfort our US Forces in a war zone. The fact is, she went to Bosnia as a morale builder for troops stationed in a war zone. Why does Senator Obama have to lie about the amounts of money he took from Rezko?

OP said she has been vetted. She clearly has not if lies like these are still out there.

Her tax returns are not out.
Her earmarks are not out.

She really hasn;t been seriously questioned about anything since the 90's. What, did time stop for her since then? WHat about the exponential boom in Clinton family income the last several years?

Saying she has been vetted is absurd. Her husband has. In the 1990's. They haven't even really started on HER yet at all.

55. Why Bill Clinton cannot win in November ('92)
The Republicans aren't going to let this Gennifer Flowers thing go away. Polls show that he is running a distant third to George Bush and Ross Perot. There is no way that charismatic speeches about hope and change alone are going to help him win the November election against the Republican attack machine. His campaign is crumbling.

He needs to step aside for the good of the party and let Paul Tsongas be the party's nominee.
