It's 12:45 a.m. and I'd just like to say: Hillary, It's Over. And Here is a Poem For You....
Lover,
there will be another one
Who'll hover
over you beneath the sun
Tomorrow
see the things
that never come
Today

When you see me
Fly away without you
Shadow on the
things you know
Feathers fall around you
And show you the way to go
It's over, it's over.

Nestled
in your wings my
little one
This special
morning brings another sun
Tomorrow
see the things
that never come
Today

When you see me
Fly away without you
Shadow on the
things you know
Feathers fall around you
And show you the way to go
It's over, it's over.

Neil Young

3. Phil Ochs--I Believe the War Is Over
Phil Ochs The War Is Over lyrics
http://www.musicsonglyrics.com/P/philochslyrics/philochsthewarisoverlyrics.htm

Silent Soldiers on a silver screen
Framed in fantasies and dragged in dream
Unpaid actors of the mystery
The mad director knows that freedom will not make you free
And what's this got to do with me
I declare the war is over
It's over, it's over

Drums are drizzling on a grain of sand
Fading rhythms of a fading land
Prove your courage in the proud parade
Trust your leaders where mistakes are almost never made
And they're afraid that I'm afraid
I'm afraid the war is over
It's over, it's over

Angry artists painting angry signs
Use their vision just to blind the blind
Poisoned players of a grisly game
One is guilty and the other gets the point to blame
Pardon me if I refrain
I declare the war is over
It's over, it's over

So do your duty, boys, and join with pride
Serve your country in her suicide
Find the flags so you can wave goodbye
But just before the end even treason might be worth a try
This country is to young to die
I declare the war is over
It's over, it's over

One-legged veterans will greet the dawn
And they're whistling marches as they mow the lawn
And the gargoyles only sit and grieve
The gypsy fortune teller told me that we'd been deceived
You only are what you believe
I believe the war is over
It's over, it's over

9. Here is one from me....Goodbye Yellow Brick Road...
From Elton John....a Hillary supporter....appropo for this, though....

When are you gonna come down
When are you going to land
I should have stayed on the farm
I should have listened to my old man

You know you can't hold me forever
I didn't sign up with you
I'm not a present for your friends to open
This boy's too young to be singing the blues

So goodbye yellow brick road
Where the dogs of society howl
You can't plant me in your penthouse
I'm going back to my plough

Back to the howling old owl in the woods
Hunting the horny back toad
Oh I've finally decided my future lies
Beyond the yellow brick road

What do you think you'll do then
I bet that'll shoot down your plane
It'll take you a couple of vodka and tonics
To set you on your feet again

Maybe you'll get a replacement
There's plenty like me to be found
Mongrels who ain't got a penny
Sniffing for tidbits like you on the ground

12. I thought it was about a poor young man
being kept by an older, wealthier man.

13. hmmm is that a reflection of his early youth?
Kinda sounds sadistic now....and, why did the Queen knight him?

14. Why wouldn't a queen knight him?
:D.

The song of course has room for other interpretations. It could also be about a record producer. The character could be interpreted as an older woman.

I think the plane reference might be a pointer to "take me to the pilot", which is what leads me to my gay interp. But that's me.

Also, was this album written after his break with Bernie Taupin? (sp) So it could even be about a break-up as a creative team? I forget all the stuff I use to know about him.

But I remember that I was extremely grateful for his coming out way back when. I found it to be very supportive when I was an adorably nubile, but sexually alienated lad. :-)
