Poll question: Clinton supporters, how long did you think the war would last?
Doonesbury has a poll up asking about the war.

How long did you think the war would last?

(full disclosure - I opposed the war because I thought / knew a stable, pro-west, unified, democratic Iraq was at least 50 hard years away... and not worth the effort ... and invading would make Americans, especially our brave warriors, less safe)

1. General Clark supporter chiming in
I figured The "WAR" would last a couple of weeks, maybe a month. The "WAR" is not the issue, its bush's AFTERMATH. As Powell said winning the war was no sweat, which it wasn't because we were fighting against an impotent opponent just like intelligence said. Winning the peace was the issue. The bush administration did a great job of obfuscating about that aspect of his excellent adventure.

3. The war is over when it is won my friend
I knew we could "win" in Iraq, but it would take multiple decades to achieve a stable, pro-west, unified, democratic Iraq.

5. And no doubt
The war will be the entire fault of the democratic party 10 seconds after the democratic president is inaugurated in January. I suspect impeachment proceedings by April Fool's Day 2009.

2. Let me predict that neither McCain, Clinton, nor Obama will not get us out of Iraq...
Edited on Tue Mar-25-08 10:12 AM by glenhappy
None of them will. We bought it. Either of them will draw down the troop force a bit. Either of them will claim credit for it.

But we have permanent bases there and we will stay.

The difference is that Obama and Clinton (esp. Clinton) will be better with the domestic issues, like the economy.

4. I agree
In order to "get out" we would need to either "win" or admit defeat. Clinton, Mac, and BO ain't gonna admit defeat. And we are far from winning.
