God, what a smart Lady. Free advertising on all major channels
for ten days or more, with glorious footage of a beautiful first lady with adorable Chelsea in Bosnia, you know the war we won with Clinton at the helm, with absolutely no body bags!!!!!!!

It certainly doesn't hurt when comparisons are made of her over 80 trips abroad, beautifully representing our country, compared to Obama's visit to his grandmother's place.

Goodness gracious, what a fool she is?

You can call it a lie, but she was in a war zone, even if her memory was "faulty". While in that zone, she spent over 9 hours representing the Presidency, in many contexts.

We should be so lucky to have her as President!

If Obama thinks he can treat McCain the way he did Hillary, he is in for a rude awakening.

71. Well, Obama said he wan't in church when Jeremiah made
those statements. At least we know by the beautiful footage in the Bosnian war zone, that she was there. The rest is simple. She got the jaunts she was on that day mixed up. It was better to let it go, than beg the point, and, on the bright side, people everywhere got to see her doing what she and Bill are very good at; that is, connecting with people all over the globe. This acumen is badly needed in a President. Think of it people, over 80 overseas trips on our behalf in those eight years. It's really impressive, and needs to be known by everybody.

This certainly gets the news out. The Obama supporters will call it as they see it, and everyone else will see it as a good thing, even if she got her facts wrong.

I guess you could say that it was good that Obama stayed in that church pew all those years without hearing a word. You choose. Everything's relative.

placed on her words by others. She said "they came in under sniper fire", which meant that they wore flak jackets and were in a plane that was meant to be used under dire circumstances.

Except for veterans and entertainers for the troops, how many of you can say you were in a war zone?

This is the type of attitude that got us into Iraq in the first place, Just downplay the deaths. They are volunteers anyways.

Maybe they define combat deaths as when you exchange fire with the enemy. I honestly don't care about the Pentagon's definitions. One got blown up by a mine, others died there in accidents. It doesn't matter. They are still dead.

I am disgusted by the misleading statement in the OP. Your splitting hairs on what is or is not a combat death won't change that.

It wouldn't have been, if I had known of one. I was simply going by what General Clark said many times, as OMC has already pointed out.

WOW, what an over reaction?

I have five brothers who were in the service of this country. One was a ranger, one worked at the pentagon and one served three tours in Vietnam.

Be careful who you speak to about war and death. They just might know more than you.

114. You Viciously And Disgustingly Attacked The OP For No Reason And A Petty 'Gotcha'.
You should be ashamed.

For the sake of the OP context and what was being portrayed, the OP was 100% accurate. The ways you over reacted and viciously attacked the OP is unacceptable an inexcusable. Nothing you say can change that and I found your behavior to be beyond disgusting.

The OP didn't say nobody died IN Bosnia. She said nobody died in the Bosnia war. And guess what: Nobody did die in the Bosnia war, regardless of some that lost their lives due to outside circumstances UNRELATED to the war. You were wrong. No matter how hard you will try to hang on to your petty "bbbbut it happened inside Bosnia" gotcha bullshit, it will never come close to justifying your ridiculous outrage and disgustingly vicious attack.

I'm done with you. The fact you won't apologize to the OP for your behavior is enough for me to consider you someone I'd rather not converse with.

Sgt. 1st Class Donald A. Dugan, 38, of Belle Center, Ohio, was killed Saturday in northern Bosnia when ammunition exploded in his hands, and not by a land mine as originally reported, a NATO spokesman said Monday. He was the ninth alliance soldier to die since NATO troops began entering the Balkans in December.

It's ashame the OP ignored the fact to promote Hillary.

They didn't die because they were in Bosnia. The did not die because they were fighting the war. They died due to human error and accidents. The war in bosnia was just inconsequential circumstance.

There were no american casualties of war in Bosnia. You were wrong. You attacked the OP unfairly and in an over the top hyper dramatic fashion. You should apologize. Let's see if you have the integrity to do so.

89. Wrong.
You inferred that there were deaths directly related to the war in Bosnia and then attacked the OP viciously in an uncalled for manner. You were wrong. There were no deaths directly related to the war in Bosnia. Just because someone died while they were IN Bosnia, does not mean they were a casualty of the WAR in bosnia.

Again: THERE WERE NO AMERICAN CASUALTIES OF WAR IN BOSNIA. Therefore, saying there were no body bags due to the war in Bosnia is accurate. You are being petty, irrational, silly and were quite unfair to the OP. That's a fuckin fact. Keep parroting your position all you want, but it's just quite simply wrong.

Has Clinton ever been around gun fire? You don't forget something like that. She was perfectly clear in her PUBLIC lie, but just in case she got caught, she would pull a memory problem. Hello? Gun fire? A little girl with a crowd waiting where she landed out in the open?

What else, oh, and if she has such a bad memory where something like this happened only 12 years ago then she has another problem to boot. Jeez, how old is Chelsea in the video? Doesn't even look that long ago, but that's just me i guess.

Taylor Marsh: I've had a problem with the whole "experience" argument from the start. As with Obama, then you have to prove it, which hasn't been especially impressive on his behalf.

...

But Hillary Clinton trying to prove her importance during her husband's presidency overreached massively and got caught in a whopper on Bosnia that includes tape. Now to be fair, the trip wasn't completely safe from danger, but no one cares now. We remember her well received foreign policy speech from last week, which included the words shown above, with the video tape evidence circulating today that blows what she said in a major foreign policy speech to smithereens. It's a self-inflicted wound that is by no means fatal, but definitely foolish.

That is one case where the worst publicity in the world ended up doing him little permanent harm, because the people saw the big picture. He was there in the White House doing his job and doing it well.

Do you see any correlation here? A misspoken word does not take away from the fact that she traveled on our behalf constantly and did a remarkable job everywhere she went. Do you honestly think people in their right mind are laughing because a lovely First Lady and now, Senator, puts herself in danger representing her country? I pray for all our Senators and Representatives when they are in a combat zone, as we all should. It is, simply put, dangerous.

Obama supporters who disrespect Hillary Clinton do their nominee no favors. They have both made missteps, and only time will tell which is the bigger; but, they both deserve respect from all democrats. When I see other than this, I am afraid I do not think they are true democrats.

I have made fun of Obama's supporters and have certainly pointed out missteps I believe he has made, but, I do not think I ever disrespected him personally. If I did, I hereby apologize to Sen. Obama. I will, however, continue to point out what I believe his deficiencies are in this election, as I will also continue to point out what Hillary's strengths are.

145. I didn't mean to leave any soldier out, no matter how he died.
I was simply unaware of non-combat deaths. I agree, they should be counted; although I am very aware that because of the inherent danger when you have a lot of soldiers anywhere, either on a base or in combat, that there is a difference between being shot by an enemy or either accidentally shot or killed in other ways, even suicide. I hate that I left anyone off. I certainly didn't do it on purpose.

I am a pacifist, so perhaps I read about those deaths somewhere and just decided not to remember them. I can put my head in the sand when it comes to war. My husband knew right off about these deaths. I just didn't ask him before I posted.

So, for those of you who are so upset because i didn't mention non-combat deaths, I can only say that I repeated what I have heard from the good General Clark on many occasions. I should have realized that this didn't count accidental deaths, because now that I think of it, I remember General Clark telling about an accidental death, or one of his soldiers talking about his part in a rescue where a soldier died.

You should not always paint people with the brush of cruelty and carelessness unless you know it is earned. In my case, it is not.

I do apologize for leaving these brave people out of the equation.

that there were deaths in Bosnia. It's reported to be as high as 6 American soldier deaths.

I don't know why they weren't widely reported back then and and why no American count was ever associated with Bosnia. It would be like us leaving off 700+ of the 4000 who have died in Iraq.

edited for clarity.

132. I agree that Hillary has done an excellent job representing this
Country abroad... But can you explain what you mean about Obama's trip to his grandmother's place. I'm not aware of this. It certainly doesn't hurt when comparisons are made of her over 80 trips abroad, beautifully representing our country, compared to Obama's visit to his grandmother's place.

Thanks.

How about all of those photos we all saw in Africa and in China, and meeting with the Queen of England, ad nauseum. What f**ing lies are you talking about?

140. rodeo
Dianne Reem (sp?) on NPR played Hill's entire economic speech from PA. Great speech; again, she's the only one talking about very specific policies. I know she was taunted for suggesting that Greenspan and Paulsen (a BO supporter, btw) be appointed to a committee to assess the foreclosure situation, but her ideas are sound and proactive.

When I came home from the supermarket, she was still on. When I got by from the gym, they had a round-table discussion of her speech.

She's looking good; to plagiarize Joan Crawford, it's obvious that this 'ain't her first time at the rodeo.'

144. I have not made a judgment on whether it was necessary, for what it's worth.
I am generally a pacifist and hate all wars, unless its a strictly defensive. I've heard why the war was fought, just haven't read enough to have a definitive opinion, unlike the Iraq war which we all know is a farce. Perhaps you could enlighten me about the Bosnian War.

Edited on Tue Mar-25-08 03:08 PM by anamandujano
made the war necessary. It was reminiscent of the concentration camps.

The argument was made that this sort of thing happens in many many countries but, the simple fact that the press went there and the cameras got the pictures caused outrage and we had to do it.

150. I've never seen that photo. It's horrible.
The shame is that it is probably happening in many places in this world that we simply don't see or know about. I've said many times that we cannot police the world, but, there should be better reporting on our news. If they simply devoted one hour a day to hot spots around the world, it would be illuminating. Guess there's not any money to be made in doing that. I hope I'm proven wrong.
