Heads up, ya'll, for the second round of Texas caucuses.... the County / Senatorial District conventions, coming to your teevee on Saturday. In these conventions, the delegates chosen at the precinct conventions, on election day, now have another exciting meeting to attend. Once more, the percentage of delegates is determined by Those Who Show Up. People will sign-in and indicate their presidential preference at each convention. The people who show up get the delegate spots for the next level.

Now, although it is true that the delegate count from the caucuses is not final until state, this next step will enable us to get to a 95% certainty to project delegates chosen at the state level. The reason for this is simple -- most of the people who are chosen to go on to state will really, really want to be there. So the percentages are unlikely to change from senate convention to state convention.

Also, here's a little-known tidbit. The Texas Democratic Party chair, Boyd Ritchie, and his wife, Betty Ritchie, are both undeclared superdelegates. He is up for re-election this year. He will be elected by those same delegates who will attend the state convention in June. Now, if Mr. Ritchie does not stand for re-election, he will no longer be a superdelegate. If he DOES stand for re-election, I suspect he will face a good deal of pressure to declare who he will be supporting. If the delegates attending state are... say.... 60% Obama delegates... and if he wants to get re-elected... well, you see where I am going with this. So we could also eventually get 1 or 2 superdelegates out of the results Saturday.

Texas is about to be back in the news, and Saturday will be a good news day for the Obama campaign.

1. bump...
email I got last night...

Dear Snooper,

With the Texas county conventions rapidly approaching on Saturday, March 29th, we have an opportunity to secure the delegate lead we established on March 4th.

But we can't do it without your help. You can maximize Barack's support at the county conventions today, right from your home.

Call Obama delegates and alternates using our online phone banking tool, and remind them to attend their county convention this Saturday.

The more Obama delegates we're able to connect with, the better prepared we'll be to harness the momentum we captured in Texas on March 4th.

Let's do all that we can to ensure that the March 29th county conventions take us one step closer to change we can believe in for the whole country.

Call Texas delegates today:

Thank you again for all your help,

Ashley

3. District 12 here, ready to represent.
Two from our house, one delegate and one alternate.
Our convention had to be moved from a high school to the Gaylord convention center/hotel in Grapevine - a HUGE crowd will be there.
Will take pics.

6. District 15 here. All delegates are committed. All alternates are coming too.
We decided to have a breakfast at our house for our precinct delegates (the obama ones) and then drive to the convention site together.

8. Hillary's lawyering up for the Texas Conventions.
Maybe it's common procedure, but hmmmmm....

Per Politico, an email the Clinton campaign sent out to volunteer attorneys:

Dear Fellow Lawyer for Hillary,

As many of you know, this Saturday, March 29th, close to three hundred County and State Senate conventions will take place across the State of Texas. These conventions are very important because they are the next major event, after the March 4th Presidential Primary and Precinct Conventions, that will determine how many delegates Hillary will receive from Texas leading in the DNC Convention this August.

The campaign?s goal is to have an attorney present at each of the convention sites this Saturday. Many of you have graciously volunteered your time in so many ways and some have already committed to assisting us on Saturday. We still need a few more lawyers, however, so if you can help Saturday that would be GREATLY appreciated. For those of you who will be travelling from out-of-state, if would be fantastic if you could arrive by Friday morning because many of the County and Senate District CREDENTIALS Committees will meet at least once, probably more often, before Saturday. Indeed, some committees have already begun meeting and we expect many Committees will meet on Friday. Whenever you can show up before Saturday morning, however, you?ll be welcomed with open arms and a big thanks!

If you can help on Saturday, please contact Martha Smiley immediately at Marthasmil@aol.com or at 512-413-3866. Martha has been extraordinary in heading up our TX lawyers/advocates effort. Our Texas political team and Martha will be working on where best to deploy lawyers, but if you are able to fly/drive into Dallas, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, or Midland, you will be effectively deployed to a convention site within that general geographic area. If you have friends who live in any of the bordering states who can help, please let Martha know as we?ll need coverage in some areas that are not as accessible by air. I have copied Martha on this email.

Many, many thanks again for everything you have done, and will continue to do, to elect Hillary the next President of the United States.

11. Sure looks like they didn't see the conventions coming either!
According to the Politico link, the call for Clinton's volunteer lawyers just went out today.

What, exactly, is Hillary claiming to be ready for on day one?
