Trust is the currency of Politicians.Once it's gone, it can't be recovered. |
|
Politicians are human. People like you and me. Full of strengths, weaknesses, flaws and contradictions. They will always make mistakes, just like you and me.
It is how they handle those mistakes that we measure the person. The currency of a Politician is the trust the are given. We give them the benefit that we can trust them, until we are proven wrong. We can look past wrongdoings, poor political calculations, even crimes in many cases, if we can trust them. When scandals arise, the most skilled politicians confront it, admit mistakes and their public trust can actually grow.
If they are proven to lie, they are bankrupt. Trust is not something that is easily earned back, once it is lost. For a politician, their word IS all they truly have. And when their word cannot be relied upon, neither can they.
