Predictions for"keynote" speaker at the convention? |
|
Edited on Wed Mar-26-08 09:41 PM by 4themind
So who do you think will have the "key note address"(meaning here, the slot that obama had in 2004) at the convention this year, in either Obama's case, or Hillary's
If it's Obama, I think Al Gore may actually give it, to try to serve in a unifying role, as he's connected with both the years of the clintons and is also a favorite of many progressives today since he's left political life (but maybe he'll do this speech as one more act to the party he's served under)
If it's hillary I think it will either be Harold Ford (as an attempt to heal the racial divide and follow up to maybe try to juxtapose with obama from 2004)or Wesley Clark to attest to his belief in her CIC credentials

|
If Obama's the nominee, I say definitely a woman...not sure who though.

As an elder statesman, rather than Gore - I think that he fits better with Kerry. (The Gore Clinton connection doesn't work that well as the CW is that they are not best buddies - especially Al and Hillary.)
Kerry's endorsement of him was great - and Kerry could speak of the foreign policy reaching out to the world - that he and Obama have in common. Kerry is a far better speaker than Gore.

There is important symbolism in the keynote address, and I believe that it will be a woman, for obvious reasons. So my guess will be Kathleen Sibelius.

 Only kidding, only kidding. Maybe a woman. How about Carol Shea-Porter of New Hampshire? She impressively won her Congressional seat in 2006 with zero help from the party. It was a true, grass roots campaign and she's a great woman.
