Reply to the race card.
A reply, I want and feel a need to post to johncoby2 post in the general discussion that got locked while I was writing it.

**** **** ***** ****

This is politics not a game of poker, and if it was this mystical "card" is not a topic to raise one candidate above another. It's not a trump, it's not the queen of spades, it's nothing. It's a topic that politicians and people can respond to in their own way. It's an issue, and one of some importance in both US history, US culture, and US community relations.

It is an issue, that is a touchy subject for many in this country. Those discriminated against, those who missed a shot because another took their place, those who feel blamed covered in a secret layer of tar, those who feel guilt, and those who feel it every day.

It is one of those DON'T TOUCH issues, that people scream and wince when they hear and see. One where there truly is no right answer no words that anyone can say to make old or new wounds better.

It is not a Card, a flimsy sheet of card board with some predisposed meaning. It is a difficult topic that we as a group of people need to roll around in are minds and in others opinions and feelings to attempt, just attempt to get a better empathy of what everyone feels on this topic. Peoples feelings will be different and will remain that way, the only thing we can do is empathize and change individually.

As for how Obama handled it in his speech, I thought he did rather well. Not perfect, for on this topic perfection is impossible, pleasing all even some of the time is impossible. But it was good, he didn't break the thin ice and still managed to maintain his footing. Because of that maybe you say he played it this "Card" well, Shot the moon to speak, took it in the good and the bad.
But it is simply not true, it wasn't a magical cure, but it was a proud moment.
