Poll question: Hillary Clinton's credibility |
|
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 01:24 AM by FlyingSquirrel
I'm sorry... Up till now the only reasons I really had for not wanting to see Hillary Clinton as the nominee were her high negative ratings, the thought that the RW would turn out in droves to vote against her, and that in general she just seemed a bit more negative.
But in the last week I've heard some serious whoppers, not just minor exaggerations but stories made up of whole cloth that were completely unnecessary and told sometimes more than once, from prepared remarks. I've seen her supposedly answer a question that she could not have forseen coming while looking down at carefully prepared notes. In reality, what I've seen and heard has made me sick to my stomach, and it's clear who's telling the truth about it.
I've not been a Hillary hater. I'm still not a Hillary hater. But now I have a personal reason to not want her to be the nominee. I've heard these kinds of lies before in my own life, and the type of person they're coming from care only about themselves and do not respect the people they're talking to. In this case, that's the entire country.

6. I didn't see anything too blatant in that one |

Although I don't think she's telling the truth about Obama being the reason Michigan couldn't have a re-vote.
But I did get a sinking feeling when she talked about taking it all the way to the convention if MI and FL were not counted. I think she will really do it.
God. What happens if in early June, the remaining superdelegates endorse, Obama has over 2,024 -- but she won't withdraw because she wants to go to the convention and wage a bloody battle?
I think that's what she's saying.
In fact, what if Obama even has 2,208 but she won't believe it and wants to make sure all the delegates show up and all the superdelegates vote the way they're endorsing?

I couldn't help but notice that Hillary's jacket was the same color as the background drapery (behind Greta). I was reminded of that Carol Burnett skit when she played Scarlet O'Hara and yanked the drapes off the window to wear as a dress when Rhett returned from the wo-ah.
For those old enough to remember -- it was a classic. :7

2. she pushed me off the fence this week |
|
Her lies on some things and secrecy on others outweighs any concerns I had about Obama. IMHO.

3. The thing is she keeps calling it a mistake that she misspoke. |
|
How do you make a mistake in recalling an event, that never happened in the first place?
You can make a mistake in recalling an event that happened because it did happen.
But to recall something that never happened in the first place and then say she misspoke is not misspeaking. It's talking about something that is not there in the first place to recall. That's not a memory thing.
And this is without even looking at the video. Add that now.

5. I love how people think |

such polls actually demonstrate anything other than what's already widely known - There are far more Obama supporters on DU than Clinton supporters.

9. Well have fun with your nearly empty discussion board if she steals the nomination. |
|
Enjoy yourself as she goes down in flames.
Guess I can comfort myself with the fact that Obama has a much better chance than she does in 2012 (whether it's after she loses the GE or after he does thanks to her.)

12. Preferences aren't "wrong" |
|
It's not like there's some platonic objective truth about candidates.
You prefer one, I prefer another. Deal with it.

15. Preferences may not be wrong, but you can be wrong about |

which candidate stands a better chance in the GE. Which is basically what the nomination process is all about.
And you can be wrong about whether the candidate you support is just an occasional fibber or someone with a serious credibility problem.
I hear Clinton supporters make vague references to "Obama lied too" but I'm not seeing any posts specifically proving out-and-out lies of the same caliber we've seen from Clinton in the last week, so clearly demonstrable with video.
---
Edit: At this moment, fully 40% of "mostly Obama supporters" don't just believe she lies about some important things -- don't just believe she lies whenever she thinks she can get away with it -- but believe she's a PATHOLOGICAL LIAR! I know there are a few Obama supporters here that are way out there - just like some Clinton supporters - but 40%? That defies credibility. This poll hasn't had a chance to be "freeped" and it's at 40% pathological.

8. That's ok, it was only there to get people more involved in the conversation. |
|
I really can't even understand how her remaining supporters can watch her on video and not feel the same things I'm feeling.

oops, i didn't direct any offense toward you. Just others seemed to think her lie would be based on a poll here or something. And I just wanted to show I didn't even vote yet because the bigger picture of her lie is already front page news.

16. I lie to myself all the time... |

like every time I click on a thread with a poll and say to myself before reading it, "this is the one...this will be the poll worth voting in."

Only thing to do is look for DU polls to grumble about!

23. "She will lie on credit when the truth is paying cash" - don't know who said it, or I'd credit it. |

But it describes the situation here to a "T".
