Wright did not do in Obama. I said when it broke we'd know in a couple of weeks if he could weather it. Time's up. He has. And he's the stronger for it.

But this Wright thing isn't done yet. I can just imagine what's going to happen if BO is indeed the Nominee and what the RW media pundits and GOP will unleash on Barack Obama.
I think what happened to John Kerry in 2004 and the "swiftboating" will be mild by comparison.

4. What's to imagine? What would be different from what we've already seen? |
|
We've already seen them say it's proof he's unpatriotic, he's unAmerican, he's voluntarily aligned himself with a racist Americophobe. We spent a week hammering him nonstop for it. What else can they do with Wright?

...this kind of talk does indeed "Play in Peoria." In other words, repetition does have a certain effect. It will hurt...it's best to get all this crap out in the open now. It will be less damaging then in October.

there's any reason to fear "omg what will the Republicans do with this," because they're doing it. Hillary might think the primary is still going on, but the Republicans are well aware that we're in the thick of the general election.

|
I know, not really applicable, but funny you brought up that phrase.
Anyhow, the raw amount of hatred that Republicans and moderates have for Hillary Clinton in this area is shocking. I mean SERIOUS hatred. They are deranged.
There would have to be some sort of insane scandal for Obama (like he murdered a white intern and sacrificed it to Muhammed) for them to hate him as much as Hillary.
Downstate Illinois is a desert for progressives.

It's like that around here too. And I suspect the nation. There are a lot of mouth breathers out there that have been fed the hate Hillary diet for years.

9. and Hannity is looking like a joke |

I love that the other channels make fun of him for having the crap about Wright on 24/7. These rightwing whiners are being exposed for the idiots they are. Rush has had his hey-day. They preach to their choirs, and the choirs are getting smaller.
In the end, most voters won't give a rat's ass about Hill's Bosnia thing OR Obama's pastor. They will vote for what they think will help them and their families the best. IMHO of course.

Wright is not Obama, and Obama has not said the things Wright has said. People are going to know this by the GE because they've been introduced to it already. And 55% of people polled recently said they don't care, that it doesn't affect their decision on who to vote for.
The RW had better watch out for their own boy McCain. Because Obama hasn't really even gotten started on him.

3. "Stronger?" Depends on your definition. |
|
His brand is damaged, no question. On the other hand, he's learned a few lessons. I'd say he's still in a far stronger position than Clinton is, but I'd still of course rather he had disassociated himself from Wright a few years ago.

6. It's his only option at the moment. He can't disassociate himself from Wright now, because |
|
the questions would be the same: "why did Obama think Wright was okay for so long?" He has to answer that question. So far, he has been.

8. But the latest polls show McCain would beat Obama by 10 points in the general. |
|
Two weeks ago (up until March 14th) they were practically tied.
These are the latest numbers from the daily tracking poll published on Rasmussen Reports.

10. GE polls this far out aren't very useful. McCain's had a free ride all campaign. |
|
After all, the only attacks he's yet had leveled against him were by Republican challengers claiming he was too moderate. Yeah, that's gonna hurt him in the GE.

13. They are a useful way of seeing how public opinion is changing. |
|
Two weeks ago, these polls were predicting a neck and neck race in November.
Now they are showing McCain is well ahead: beating Obama by 10 points or Hillary by 7 points.
We can only conclude that the Reverend Wright stuff (and other stuff like the sniper thing) has helped McCain and hurt the Democratic cause.
It is crazy to claim that Obama is in a stronger position today than he was 2 or 3 weeks back.

23. No they are completely useless |

They have as much meaning as the polls 6 months ago that showed Hillary winning everything everywhere and picking out the new drapes for the White House.
Now if you have a poll for Pennsylvania I would be interested but that still is too far away.

16. New Poll on Yahoo shows Obama beats McCain |
|
by 2%, McCain beats Hillary by 2%. These polls have constantly fluctuated every week since they started taking them. I think it's all very even in the GE right now and that with few exceptions all of these polls are falling in or very close to their margin of error. In other words, there will probably be a poll tomorrow that shows Hillary beating McCain by 3% and Obama losing by 5%.

17. Nothing to be sorry about. If you recall the first day this hit, there were several |
|
Hillary supporters who were very concerned about the damage that might be done to Obama. We realize that he may be the Democratic nominee and realize that anything that hurts him could hurt us all in the long run. There may be some here who were looking forward to seeing Obama brought down by "Pastorgate", but I believe they are in the minority.

22. How many primaries have there been since Wright made the headlines? |
|
polls show a hit, but the only ones that count are in the voting booth, and that is still 3 weeks away.
It may not have as much of an impact then, or it may, the 'jury' is still out.
